After a visit Alan (BTBR) Weaver the other day I think it only fair that I share with you all the new lighting system on my 1200GS.
The Hella FF50 Driving lights have been linked to the Main Beam and Hella Micro DE to the Dip via a switch, all mounted on a MiGSel light bar.
If you want to be seen on the road and see in the dark this is definitely a very worthwhile addition to your bike. Such is the brightness of the combination that oncoming traffic go from main beam to dipped headlights long before they even come into your field of vision. The uncertainty of the tightness of the bend or the rabbits/wildlife on the side of the verge is now all in your view.
I now enjoy riding my motorcycle at night as much as I do during the day; these lights really are that good and I would recommend that the time and money spent visiting Alan is worth every penny. Not only that there is an ample supply of tea / coffee and bacon sandwich from Alan’s good lady.
Anyway it’s nearly dark so it is time to take the bike out!!!!!!!!!!

I've got an GSA 1200 with fogs fitted as an option. Can these driving lights be fitted to the existing bar or do I need a separate one? Also can I ask how much this upgrade would cost (roughly) and what exactly did you have done? I commute everyday so at least one journey is in the dark - these lights look like what I need!

Sadly I have have not done a 1200GSA so I cannot answer your first question. :(

Plus, I am not to sure if you can mount a light bar with four lights with the OE crashbars.

But I might be talking utter bollocks, no change there then.

I really need to have a good look at one.

I have just called in at North Oxford BMW to have a look at a 1200GSA, what a crap light bracket!!! No wonder the feckin' things keep breaking. :nono

The bad news is that it does not look like a quick fix to adapt Hella DE's on the existing OE crash bar either. :(

Plus, I dont know how you could mount a extra light bar on there either.

Saying that I bet that the US boys has sussed a way around the problem.

Maybe need to have a search around the ADV Rider site. :nenau
