doesn't affect me. ..... it still costs me the same regardless.
Just like postage stamps.
A penny stamp from 10 years ago.... and a penny stamp today, both still cost a penny.
It's ingeniously simple.

On the fuel side, or just a shelf stacker
I don't know what they do or do not put in supermarket fuel, I definitely get LESS MPG on it.
a couple of miles away from, with a waitrose a similar distance. Generally the queues at both are fairly long -
shoppers getting their 5p off per litre.
and waitrose and, guess what? No queues Just cant abide it, so whats wrong with people stacking shelfs for a living then ??, you obviously know nothing about retailing in the 21st century .![]()

meant that no offence was intended. I apologise if I did offend.doesn't affect me. I only ever put £20 in at a time and have done for years. Therefore I've never actually been affected by any of the price changes because it still costs me the same regardless.

Sorry. No job snobbery here.
You stated to know a lot about the petrol and stated that you'd worked in Tesco's for years. You didn't mention whether you worked in the petrol side or supermarket side.
If you worked on the petrol side, then you may know more about the fuel than us mere plebs. If you worked on the supermarket side (shelf stacker, trolley dolley or manager) then it is less likely that you would know about the fuel.
And I DEFINITELY have no job snobbery. Any job is better than NO job. If there's a job, someone has to do it. Mrs Miff worked in Morrisons for a few years.
Mymeant that no offence was intended. I apologise if I did offend.
But I DO get less MPG on supermarket Diesel.

All fuel is definitely not the same. The base is the same but the additives packs are different. Up here all the base fuel comes from Grangemouth refinery no matter the brand but the additives are added later. Every time I use supermarket fuel in the car I get a good 80 to 100 miles less to the tank and the performance isn't as sharp. I avoid it on the bike like the plague.
It appears to me that the price of fuel does not necessarily mean better quality.
I am currently having a problem with misfires/hesitancy on my gs when opening the the throttle quickly to near max.
I always used Tesco 97 RON which has recently started giving the problem but fuel from Total or Texaco garages do not.
I filled up at a GULF station in Thirsk last week and put their top of the range fuel in at £1.53 / litre and it ran like a 3 legged PIG!
I have got to use it all now!
Gonna try shell next!
yes cookng oil would probably be ok in that. I ran an 05 VW golf on cooking oil for some considerable time and it ran perfectly with it. Obviously not a good idea in cold weather though as it seperates and goes all solid. I also note that my car which is a diesel does seem to run better on the premium diesel which i buy from my local Total garage. It's currently £1.50 per litre, but the car seems much much happier on it, and I THINK its doing better MPG.I won't put Tesco fuel in SWMBO's car, it pinks like crazy, other fuel seems ok though, their diesel in my Landy is ok, mind you Mozilla cooking oil would probably be ok in they as well![]()
Or as my mate once famously said on a trip across France… “I’m not buying expensive fuel, its not in the tank long enough”.Seem the base mix is the same, its additives package which separates the brands/blends.

Supermarket do not use, only Shell, Esso or BP in that order of choice.
yes but a lot of fuel is cheap imported 88 RON that has LPG bubbled through it to raise it to the 95RON uk standard. once the it has off gassed it is back to the 88 RON that it started off as
Is there any truth/proof to this statement?Where is this bubbling carried out?
Feels like an oft repeated fabulous internet myth to me.

Yes I will respond
As far as I know one place it happens is the Fuel terminal at thurock.
This information is quite old so there is the possibility it is now wrongbut I do know that the Bulk petrol carriers still come into the jetty near the QE2 bridge carrying petrol from the "cheaper" refineries around the world

I did once speak to a fuel blender while I was waiting for a boat at another fuel terminal/ refinery and was told about the gasing prosess that some places use.
I wont be more precise because I am paranoid about the potential shite I could cause for myself and the BHTI know where I wont buy fuel from and thats enough for me

ps there is an ex tanker driver Tosser that has agreed with what I have said about the fuel gassing in another thread.
pps I love Beer LOL
another Tosser on another thread said:Oh and also supermarket fuels are Shite,as stated gassed up to increase octane rating, and purchased from ships that sit at sea for weeks, the supermarkets look for the cheap deal then its brought ashore. Some of you may remember the Tesco fu@ckup when their fuel was shipped on a boat that had previously shipped silicone, cue lots of public arm waving and a massive bill for damage to cars and bikes....
