Here's the problem....

1150 GSA 03.. low seat... still a bit tall in as much as when SWMBO gets on and off I'm not completely balanced so it becomes a struggle ;) (29" inside leg:()

1) Would a set of standard 1150 shocks fitted mean the centre stand etc would need changing?

2) Wilbers or Ohlins ... Can one get a set that would drop the ride height an inch or so.. and if so see 1) above

Suppliers of the above would be useful, and what's it going to cost me :augie

I'm looking for the best option ... and also If I change the rear does it mean the front needs changing as well?

Thanks in advance

hi bryn, set of standard gs forks would mean it would be more difficult to get on the centrestand as it would be acting with a greater moment arm.

You might really struggle with that as your have tiny pins :)

you would need to change front and rear or yourll be increasing your trail at the front and increasing your rake angle which would make the bike slow to turn.

I have a standard centrestand we could swap over if you wanted to go down that route.

Thanks for that :thumb May put an ad in the Wanted section :)

Do you off road with it? Have you considered swapping the wheels for cast ones 17" front instead of 19" ? have done my normal GS which you can gladly have a sit on to see if it makes much difference

Hi Bryn
You can get Wilbers to make you up a lower shock for no extra charge. They will lower in 5mm increments, but as stated above, you will need lower centre stand.

very helpful guy.
Just fitted a Wilbers rear to my '03 Adv., and makes a real difference . OE shock (rear) was knackered !
Or, I have an ultra low, black & yellow seat you could always try -I am looking to swap for a black/yellow standard seat for 1150 GSA.

Thanks for that :thumb My seat is lower, but red and grey... I'll have to speak to Pete if I can't source some SH ones :)

Before spending a lot of cash on shocks. Try fitting the longer torque arm from an R1150R, should drop the rear end about an inch. down side is the steering would be a little bit slower. Motorworks do them second hand for about £30.

Not thought of that one :thumb

Like you i'm lacking in the leg legth department (29" inside leg)

I have standard 1150 shox on my ADV with the low seat option

I have found no problems at all with the centre-stand or side stand

I bought a set of new shox from a guy who had fitted Ohlins from new

sell your ADV shox on flea-bay - they fetch good money and buy yourself a set of Wilbers / Ohlins

Alternatively buy some of these :augie

Got a pair just like those :augie I've got 3 months or so to sort out a solution... its going to be Wilbers, Ohlins or possibly the torque arm approach following a bit of research :thumb

Bryn, HRH Oonyack had a set of 25mm lowered wilburs shocks for sale with the shortened stand I believe, last week. They were on ebay, cause of no interest here. Give him a shout and see if they are still available.
