Suspension Adjustment - Rear

Hi, after getting complaints from my friends that everytime I accelarate, my headlight on my 2007 GS goes skywards I thought I would try and firm up the settings. I have adjusted the front shock no problem but whatever I do to the preload knob or bottom screw on the rear, nothing much happens. With the preload knob all the way in, if I sit on the bike and bounce, the front is firm but the back just squats. I am doing something wrong? Thanks.

I found the only way to avoid this was to invest in £450 of retail therapy at WP Suspension.

Sorry..... (Or not, depending on how you feel about buying bling)

The problem is mostly that, because of the telelever front suspension, the front has a large amount of sag; i.e. it is well compressed even at a standstill. It is actually the front which is going up and down, not the rear wot is squatting. Raising the rear ride-height with the preload adjuster won't affect this and the damper screw only affects rebound settings anyway.
The one way to stop it would be to increase the front preload, but this would have the effect of raising the front end, slowing the steering, making it reluctant to turn in to corners and wanting to run wide under power on the exit. (GS's steer best with no front preload.)

It's a design quirk. :)
