When you wind up the preload on a GS ADV does it make quite a height difference. I realise this question is a little tenuous but the reason for asking is that when riding a demo ADV last week I couldnt quite get my feet flat on the floor. My bike is identical with the same optional low seat but my feet are flat on the ground and my knees very slightly bent. So my thinking is that the preload was wound up on the other bike hence the height issue. What do you think ?

yep, you are right at 6ft 6in and fat i have mine wound quite high

HTH and enjoy the bike

It won’t affect the ride height, but less pre-load would allow your immense bulk to compress the spring more. Thus bringing your very short legs closer to the ground.

Hope that helps.

could also depend on how new the demo bike was.

i would expect one that's done a few miles to sag a bit more than a new one on identical settings.

Thanks guys was worrying unneccessarily as im picking it up in
2 1/2hrs. incidentally the demo bike had 1 mile under its wheels and my bike has 6000. I am about 6ft 2" so I will wind it up a bit more.
