I have a 59 plate rt se model. It has esa, which is standard and has me slightly perplexed. Being my first bmw i have read the riders manual to get my head round all the computer stuff. So, having read about it being very important to set up the spring preload and damper loading i took my seat off to return my spring to factory settings, but i couldnt see where the adjuster knob is.
There is a black box thing on top of the spring, but nothing i can see to compare with the picture in the manual....so no joy there.
Next i looked for the adjuster for the damper, and same again, i couldn't see like what it shows in the manual, so i'm obviously missing something or not looking at the right thing.
Yes i'm a numpty but restrain yourselves if possible from taking the whotsits.......what am i doing wrong here......maybe i got a duff manual

Hello DCB40,
Welcome to our little RT group.
The manual settings are for the non-ESA model. ESA was an optional extra so the book was showing the settings for the standard model.
You set the ride style you want on the computer and the 'Black Box' sets the pre load etc.
