For Sale Suzuki DL650

2006 model in pale metallic blue. Lovely clean condition, good tyres and since purchase, I have only occasionally used this as a 2nd bike but the need for more garage space means reluctantly, I have decided to sell it. The money is needed for my business towards another project. Just a genuine 8K miles from brand new and some superb upgrades including a much uprated stator and rectifier replaced just over a year ago at over £500, new battery, oxford heated grips (excellent!) and comes with a Suzuki top box. Tyres are BT023's with plenty of life left and in good shape. I gave it a full brake service last year, stripping and rebuilding the rear brake and fitting new pads. The bike wants for nothing. Oil and filter changes were done about 800 miles back but since this was a year ago, I've bought a full service kit (plugs/filters etc) bar the oil ready to service but decided to pass the kit on with the bike. It runs and rides superbly. You won't find a better, original (and solidly built) DL650 than this. Asking a very reasonable £2700 firm please which is less than it owes me, for a quick sale. Buyer collects from GL11 area.

Service book present and correct. Bike has original tool kit, comes with service parts and original tools and is fully alarmed too with both fobs present and correct (two sets of keys). Mot is up until 21st September 2025. It really is a super example!

Bike was fitted with the following sensible upgrades:

As well as the uprated stator/rectifier and new wiring, it benefits from:

• Rear rack and Suzuki top box with 2 keys;
• Universal phone holder above dash with USB socket (I use this with my phone and Apple maps connected to my intercom)
• Pyramid Hugger which has kept rear shock perfect;
• Front fork gaiters (why don't more bikes have these?);
• Excellent Oxford V8i intelligent heated grips;
• Hand guards to keep the worst of the weather off the digits;
• bar mounted external thermometer;
• Front fender mudflap;
• Alarm and immobiliser

Please find below photos taken just this morning which show just how exceptional the condition is. No rust on main chassis, even the black chassis paint still sparkles with the original metallic finish; Paintwork is perfect bar one or two very minor blemishes; wheels look as new and tyres have loads of life left in them. Chain has minimal wear, ditto the sprockets. Brakes front and back are perfect with recent pads to the rears; Engine looks and sounds like spanking new and it rides accordingly; rear shock is externally adjustable for reload.

The bike is uber-comfortable, all day comfy with excellent road manners and handling. I'd happily jump on this now and do a round-trip to Morocco with zero concerns! Its mechanically A1. I doubt there's a better Mk1 in existence and these were imho far better built than the latest ones. Everything feels solid and well made. All electrics work perfectly.

Great bikes, got one for Mrs 1st bike, then had it as my commuter bike for a few years, much better than the CB500X I bought as a commuter a bit later!

Previous owner put progressive springs in forks and I had a Nitron shock fitted, as I had lent them a couple of bikes for development work they owed me a shock, as probably overkill on the V-Strom, but if handled great, engine had character and decent Ooomph.

Good buy IMHO

Details of security, as several people have asked: Alarm is an NCS "C2" alarm/immobiliser, and the bike is also fitted with Alpha-Dot security markings (paperwork included).

I recall your previous posts when you first got the bike, thinking ... "That's a cracking find!"

With the fettling youve done, it'd be a great second bike and if I was a lot closer (and had room in the garage which I don't), I'd be over for a look pdq. Good luck with the sale and have a bump!

Still available. Took it out last night and it's a lovely thing to ride. Very gutsy...I'm always amazed by how much grunt this thing has from low revs. Engine's lovely and smooth too. Having borrowed a new one for few days, I much prefer this one. Solid, reliable, very comfy and goes surprisingly well for a 650. Very little wind blast too. Just a superb bike all round.

This lovely "Wee-strom" is still available. No costly electronics to go wrong, really plush suspension with a handily located preload for the rear. Ride away for the summer months and take on a tour somewhere! A fully sorted, reliable machine with loads of grins per mile!
