A mate is selling this bike, he's had it since new, might be able to get it cheap.About 30,000 miles showing.

Anyone got any experience of these, what should I look for?

Will come with years MOT, has new tyres, battery, rear shock, and other bits & pieces. It's been off the road for about three years.

I don't need this bike, but I'm still interested, bugger :D

budget suspension, great engine gsxr1100 based, comfy, spacious, good bikes if looked after, ideal sports tourer, some gay colours.

I had one for two years. Fantastic engine. If you can ignore the looks, it'll make a good reliable fast bike.

Finish was never brilliant, but the reviews at the time said, unlike its 600 cousin, that the bike was a corker: v quick and the Suzuki blocks are supposed to be pretty bullet proof.

A bit of money aside for some replacements or cleaning and I say: why not.

Go on, surprise a blade!!

Don't buy it they are utter crap, it would not suit your style, they are completly unreliable and no fun, come in some awfull colour schemes, drink fuel, go far to fast and chew tyres

as your no longer interested, pm me your mates phone number, so i can tear a stip of him, for even daring to offer you such a bike :D

Apart from the last line, I thought you were describing my ex-wife............................chew tyres..................... :D You do know her :P

Thanks for the replies, I'm going for a look tomorrow.

Nick, let's meet up before your adventure, this time on the CBs? What's the timescale between your "retirement" and your departure?

Just partaking a bottle of "KATY" Thatchers single variety cider, ambient temperature, Ahhhh, mellowing out

Suits me, but you are NOT allowed to burn me off at the lights on a newly purchased RF :nono :nono

Our spate of guests has died down so we should be able to find a nice weekend to do a pub lunch, my way, your way or mid way: don't mind...

Perhaps Ninja-man might fancy popping along :nenau

Your way, as you came my way last time.
This might be construed by those not in the know as some sort of :ymca liason  I'll ask Ninja man if he wants to play, but that'll mean either his GS or Ninja :nono

How did you know he had a y piece?

Eliminator ,

I bought one from brand new in 95 i think . It was more or less when the blade came out which was half it weight and rightly overshadowed the RF

I had the rs2 which had better / fully adjustable suspension. If I was buying on a budget I 'd buy another in a shot . As above , it has a bullet proof engine ( it won dozens of endurance records / races.) And Very fast for it's time . Claimed top speed of about 162 from memory and I definately saw 150 an the nwe A5 from Wellington to Shresbury road.

Very stable too. If its a good price , sort the suspenders and you have a awful lot of fast bike for the money.

Good luck,

H6

If it's Japanese it's shite...avoid like the plague. It'll go like feck, fall apart and be made of monkey metal. Oh yes...and the women will think you're gay.

Buy a proper bike.

I have one.

It's dark green and black, and doesn't look gay at all. Can't say the same about the purple and yellow ones.

Spacious? Well, they may be if you're 5'8" tall.

But it's fast, reasonably stable, likes 020s, anc seems to cost ferk all to maintain.

I find that I frighten myself when openeing the throttle wide on the M27 when the engine hits 7,000 rpm and the bike throws it's front wheel to the sky and takes off.

Big change from the GS.

Just been to see the bike.

R reg, 38,000 miles on the clock.
Will come with years MOT.

New battery, chain & sprockets, S/S brake & clutch lines, progressive springs, tyres, rear caliper had new piston seals.

What do you reckon is a fair price?

Rode the bike today as it's been MOTd, neck aches, felt all the bumps that the GS ignores, feel myself going off the idea. Figures on the speedo minute, mirrors blurred at speed. Felt cramped, even compared to my Honda 400! Plus as i'm an immature sod, I felt the need to go too fast all the time above my capabilities, occassionally do this on the GS & Honda, but on the RF this could prove disasterous

If I think again about another bike, it will have to be retro / muscle bike, nice and upright.
