Sorry if this has cropped up before, I have done a search but can,t seem to find the info I need.
I am thinking about the SW MOTECH Engine Bars and one of the downsides seems to be that they need to be removed for Servicing. Looking at the various Pictures of Bikes (GS) with these Bars fitted it looks like as well as being bolted to the Bash Plate the Rear Mounting is at the Main Rear Frame to Engine Location. Does this mean that the Engine to Rear Frame fixing is disturbed every time the Bars are removed.
Thanks
Mike Tee

I have those bars fitted, and I have recently had a 6,000 miles service carried out at Jefferies. They charged me to remove the bars, so I would say that Yes, they would disturb all fittings, to do a service. I don't know if this bothers you, but it doesn't bother me. Just torque 'em up correctly, and off you go....:)

HTH......

NoG don't charge to remove bars for servicing:thumb2.
The bars are excellent and protect the cylinder heads better than the BwM ones.

Just dropped mine for the first time and the paint on the Motech crash bars is so thick you would hardly notice the scratch!

Just had Motech crash bars fitted by Jeffries, and to give them credit I was told that they fouled the sump plug and would have to be removed at service, incuring an extra charge, I chose them as they seem to offer all round protection.
I still think it is a bit tight of BM to have deleted the plastic engine protection pieces from origional equipment (as on 1150)

Mine have been used as intended on a few occasions :o and they do exactly what they say on the tin. I also think they look 'just right' on the bike.

Defo reccomended :thumb2

Oh, and Pidcocks have never charged for removing them come service time :)

As I understand it you don't have to remove them but just need to loosen them off. Mine is in for the 6k service tomorrow so I'll see what comes out of that!!

Just had my 6000 service at Rainbow £40 cheaper than Jefferies plus they didnt charge to remove the motec bars, so I reckon they didnt need to. Also FREE lone bike, great service! dint clean the bike though!

Cracking bars I highly rate them. Mine have most of the paint missing on the drop points, are bent backwards slightly and still come back for more.

SLM did charge me for removal, partly because the holes don't line up anymore. :D Ride it like you stole it!

6k service - £163.00 from Motorrad Central East in Dalkeith. That was with motech engine bars fitted - seems fair enough to me.
