SW Motech Engine bars - GREAT!

Just fitted these at the weekends (or rather, Haza did) - no problem so long as you've a T55 torx key! Fitted along with my existing Touratech cylinder protectors without a problem. Really easy job....

They are good. Just check the clearance on the left side between the bars & the oil cooler feed line. I needed to add a spacer (ie, a washer!) to mine.

....... and everytime you take it in for a service you will need to remove and refit them!

Shurely its just the Bottom brace bar that you have to remove (or the dealer has to remove) to gain access to the filter and sump area. If the cylinder heads need to come off can they be manipulated between the bars and the internals? Did think about this when I fitted mine but I thought what the hell, they seem popular and if they do need to come off I would take them off before taking it into the dealer.

Great bars

First thing I fitted to my bike, easy to fit and look great. IMHO the best looking bars you can buy and match the bike. Never want to test them in anger though, but I am sure they will do the job.

I agree with you totally. I'm not knocking the bars - I've got them fitted to mine and they are great. I was only pointing out that they require removing before servicing because I too believed this was not necessary and only found this out when my dealer charged me £15.00 (plus the dreaded VAT) extra to remove and refit at the bike's first (free) service.

Just trying to save davidgibson999 a few bob!

AKAIK the valve covers have to come off at every service for a tappet clearance check and adjustment?

They have been tested in anger by someone on this site and have been reported to do their job extremely well. Can't remember the post though.

Prestige told me that they did need to come off to be able to get the rocker covers off (but they didn't charge me for it at the 600 mile service ). I had a go myself and found I couldn't get the covers off with the bars still in place. I didn't try loosening the bars to see if that would work though.

Just fitted mine last weekend - they were £115.00 plus delivery from NN (I thought they were £128 also but when i went on the web to order them they were £115-00 and the invoice matches).

They look very well made - were pretty easy to fit (with normal hex sockets and spanners and of course a Torque wrench).
Finish looks solid hoping to get away with just removing bash plate and base support bar for service but will see on next service.
