SW Motech Pro Tank Ring for R1300GS

The BMW and Katoom tank rings are interchangeable. The screw spacing/placement is identical.
Yes I think screw position the same but need extra height to clear the cover on the new tank, mine arrives tomorrow so we will see, but looking at the spec on swmotech site there is a difference. See pic

I really hope that’s correct cause I’ll be ordering one asap.

Their instructions suggest it’s the same as the 1250 but that could just be an error on their part. An increase of 6mm sounds perfect 😎

SW Motech just sent me this, just noticed it's on a separate page of the instructions. So the actual tank ring IS the same as the 1250 and 1200, but they include this spacer for the bag itself to raise it up. Which is a shame cause apparently they don't sell the spacers indivisually so I've got to buy a whole new tank ring just to get the spacer.......

That's interesting because i found that the corner of the locking mechanism (that plastic box) also fouls the lid of the phone compartment. Not just the bag.

They do sell the spacer separately, too.

Thanks mate! The lady at SW Motech told me they don't..... *sigh* lol

This is mine:

Fortunately you wouldn't be attempting to open the cubby hole with the bag attached, but it;s definitely "tight"

Brilliant. From the side profile it looked to me to be fouling, but thank for this.

Just fitted mine that was for the 1300 and yes it comes with a 6mm spacer that you fit to the underside of the tank bag. Instructions show you can fit one (which I have and perfect for clearance) or can be two spacers and then they supply longer bolts.

Bit naughty if they don’t sell separately the spacer.

Yeah I was wrong, the lady from SW Motech who replied to me said they don't and I'd have to buy the spacer as part of a new ring. Then backtracked when I kicked off and sent me the part number lol

👍yes it would make no sense not to sell separately, I may well get a second small tank bag and would not be happy if I had to buy a ring that i didn’t need.

They do a 12mm spacer as well as the 6mm one

My instructions show 12mm is just made up of 2 x 6mm put together and then longer bolts.

Ha! Lucky you!

Btw, I had a response from SW Motech who say the two tank rings are indeed different.
The rings themselves are identical. They also replied to me and told me as such 🤦🏻‍♂️ they said the only difference is when you buy the 1300 part number you get the 6mm spacer included (for the same price)
