my 1100rt won't start when its been running and is warm (ie. if i stop for petrol) - it does start cold.....

i know where i can get a starter motor...... is it an easy task to swap out the old one? something i might under take myself?

thanks for any comments / help. . . . i'm going to have a look through the repair manual but hoped a post here might also help. . . . :thumb

Not sure if it's buried beneath that plastic fairing but removal is two allen head bolts and an electrical connection.

There it was, gone!

Remove Plastic cover = one bolt

Remove main feed to starter 13mm spanner ( careful not to touch any other surface, as it's live)

One spade end connection - pull it out.

Two allen bolts hold the starter in place . One right in front of you, the other underneth .

5 minute job - (10 minutes the first time ).

Oh, if it's never been taken off before, it'll have a cable tie around it, holding the wiring behind. Just Cut through it . The cable tie that is, not the wiring :D

That sounds easy, might take mine off just for the shear hell of it ;)

thank you, thank you, thank you.......
steptoe - thank you in particular!

Whatton, you didn't really mean that did you?

Shear as in 'shear a bolt off,' as opposed to 'sheer hell?'

just did the job. . . .

was very straight forward - many thanks for your help.. :clap

hope you disconnected the battery first or you have a very big live wire dangling free ;)

yep- i did disconect the battery, eventually!!!! - i was at home - the majority of my tools were at work - - it's really bloody hard to disconnect cable from the battery if you don't have an 8mm combination spanner to hand!!!!!

:mmmm
