Is that a rumour, or a from a secret source

One of the guys on the BW stand told me the X bikes will be discontinued in 2010. Even the Challenge :nenau

Don't think he was speculating. He told me straight out so I dought it was just rumour.

Bit premature I think.

David...... The rack was in a section where writers could talk about equipment for their bikes.

He mentioned that he was not satisfied with other items he had seen and wanted to produce something for himself.... which would 1, fit in with the line of the bike, 2, safely carry fuel, and 3, still carry a passenger with a small payload.

He also mentioned that there was more information here...

but again this required a login to finally get to the topic.

Hope this helps..... I have not got a Xchallenge yet... but I will get one and the rumours of a short life for this model does not worry me.... I believe it is one of the best bikes, for my purpose, ever made by BMW.

Cheers:JB:JB

TT rally skid plate, progressive front springs, roadbook, computer, Kahedo rallyseat and then some

Yeah, I already know that I am a lazy bugger and I could get in touch with Kahedo by myself, but, what price is that seat "Dontshootme" and what sort of time are they quoting to build it for you?

:drool I don't need much encouragement so please stop posting pictures!! :D

Just had a reply today for a seat build by Kahedo, the people who made the Touratech Rallye seat.
They quoted 320 euros for the build and 20 euros for delivery.
They estimated that the seat will be back with me in 20 working days.

All I need to do now is find a buyer for the wife and kids and I will be able to place my order for the seat, large tank and rallye fairing :augie

I also learned the X series is being discontinued in 2010 All of them. The end of the road for the 650 single :(

They are already discontinued in the US as of 2009 !

BMW have the rights to a good engine ... the 650 cc rotax single, and they seem to be fumbling about trying to find what to stick it in.

The X650 bikes were supposed to be the answer, but they didnt sell too many, so they are re-introducing the old single cyl F650GS, calling it a G650GS, and getting rid of the X650s.

I am guessing the G650GS will not have a lot of longevity (being a 2000 vintage design in the first place) and its just a stop gap to a successor for the X650. At least thats what I hope !

The worst case outcome is that BMW are just sticking their remaining 650 cc singles in any bike that will take them, and when they are gone, then they are gone.

Colebatch... I think you are right..... they will use the rotax (a little dated now) in the new 650GS.

My own personal opinion is that they will produce a completely new engine, as they did for the G450X (maybe a bored out 450) for a new G525/650X with concentric swinging arm and sprocket do dahs for focused use and maybe a second version of it to produce an adventure/dual sport all rounder.

pannier racks

Guys, I'm sure I found a Hepco pannier rack a few months ago that mounts to the OE subframe but didn't add it to favorites and now can't find it ! Anybody any ideas or any other manufactures that do one ?

Cheers
Pete

I was near there in the Summer camping in the Black Forest and had a run to the showroom and it was fantastic. The displays were amazing, everything was available ex-stock and I did get a discount.

Might be a good venue for a 3 or 4 day trip! I can heartily recommend the area around Lake Titisee!

Budge, all there it's not ! That was my first port of call but the X Challenge isn't listed mate.
