swiss vignette

Dunno, I tend to need more than 10 days because I usually pass through twice. And had to pay for the tunnel before, and some of the Passstraßen. That's what I mean by it adds up.

Yes there are a few autobahn tunnels with extra tolls, the A10 near us has a pair with tollbooth between, 10 Euros for the pair.
At 4.90 for 10 days you can get two for not a great deal of money, or if you are in Austria for longer a 2 month vignette costs 12.40 Euros. These really don't add up to more than a drop in the ocean when you look at the total cost of your trip. I agree that the private road tolls can add up, maybe you should stay at our place and you would get a free unlimited pass to most in our region.

Ah, dearie me. I wish I'd remembered this thread a couple of weeks ago, we were on the way to the Route des Grande Alpes and had stopped off at Annecy for a couple of days (very nice, too- we'll be back) and decided to pop over the border to Geneva for the afternoon. Wham! 40 Swiss Francs for the vignette for um, perhaps ten miles of of Swiss motorway. :D

Still, I must remember that I can I can pop over and do it all again for free at any time over the following year. So, musn't grumble, eh? :augie

Perhaps i can give you something to grumble about - in fact you don't have a year to use it, only until Jan 2015.

Hi oh Gray one,

My expeience was on a trip to Austria We spent precisely two days in Switzerland and chose not to spend 3x 28E so we stuck to non main roads into Zurich and across to Austria. It was slow and hot at times, but out of town perfectly fine. Just stick to the speed limits and enjoy the scenery.

have a good trip whatever you do.

Path.

Quite right, 31st Jan. Still, could have been worse. I may well consider a little grumble, mind.

PS, the point I meant to make in my original post (but forgot) was that if we had entered Switzerland on an ordinary (non-motorway) road then it wouldn't have been necessary to buy a vignette. :)
