I know the 2008 GS has a socket somewhere around the dials. Is there an outlet/connection that offers switcable powerto connect my Zumo??? My bike is a 2007 GSA

If your 08 bike has ESA, then the additional power socket is under the headlight unit / oil cooler.

Hi, my '08 1200GS non ESA but Low Suspension, had the socket under the headlight/oil cooler with a little blanking plug fitted. I got the plug from the dealer today and changed the Zumo power connection from the battery to this plug.

No problems fitting, but the plug comes with 3 yellow leads, thankfully the dealer had marked the bag with 1 = Positive and 3 = Negative, which allowed me to solder the Zumo connections correctly.

The Zumo now power's up when the ignition is turned on but surprisingly it does not immediately detect the fact the ignition is turned off and seems to continue to get power
for about 2 minutes after turning the ignition off. It then presents the option of running on internal battery, or switching off automatically in 30 seconds, as it does when I use it in the car.

That's the norm for the accessory socket and the headstock area one.
