2011 uk spec f650gs 800 twin.

I am fitting an Aux relay to power spotlights and usb chargers. I am looking to break into the timed off switched live to trigger the relay.

Is there an easy place to get to this or just old fasioned break into the wire ?

Thanks

Roger

I use the feed to the small front side light. Scrape back some insulation on the positive wire (yellow I think), solder a wire onto it and route it throught the small vent on the left hand side of the light unit to a relay located up behind the battery.

I think the din socket by the key may be switched. Possibly an easy one if it is. I’m sure someone on here will know.

It is a switched feed with the time delay so i will probably use it to switch my Aux relay. I just wondered if there was an easy connection point. I will start searching later

How about a Denali, or similar - use the satnav power supply, tucked away by the battery on the F- twins IIRC.

My £5 30A relay will do the job i need very nicely.

I was just looking for info on a connectiin point for the switched live without breaking into the loom. But i will just cut into it now thanks.

I wouldn’t cut into the loom of a machine running a can bus system ,, THATS just looking for trouble !

As described earlier on in this thread, I solder a wire into the front side light circuit and have done on 6 x F650/800 Gs twins in the past and never had a problem, mainly because I am only taking off a switching load that energises a relay. The relay draws its feed direct from the battery to power any ancillaries that I am running, be they lights, heated gloves or nag nav.

Surprised that it doesn’t cause an issue , I know it’s only the signal load for the relay , but it’s still energising the little coil inside it ,,,,, every day is a school day 👍👍
