Hi,
I just purchased a Starcom 1 intercom kit for my GS Adv and would like to wire it to a switched power supply, i.e. one that loses power when I turn off the ignition. I think the starcom will be fitted under the seat somewhere so can anyone tell me which switched live wire I can utilise for the power supply to the unit.

Thanks in advance
Davy

The Starcom switches itself off when the helmet lead is disconnected so it's not essential to use a switched power supply.

I did but hey that's me, on a 1200 too so can't advise.

I used the horn fuse. Looking from the rear of the bike, the 4th fuse from the left.

Rather than chop into the loom, I used two spade connectors on short wires to "remote" the fuse and piggy-backed the power to this.

If you want to transfer it to another bike at some stage or remove it all together, just return the fuse to the original holder.

I connected my Starcom to the ignition feed into the brown/orange connector block just under the front of the tank. Easy to get to with the tank off.

Hey,
Thanks for the advice. The reason for a switched power source was so the unit was not still on with the ignition switched off. As the starcom switches off with the helmet lead disconnected (thanks Wraithwrider) I can just connect to the battery.

Thanks all
Davy
