Switches touching the tank

2018 Rallye TE.

When I rotate my bars all the way to the left the switch gear just ‘kisses’ the tank. On close inspection the mirror and lever clamps are aligned correctly with the index marks on the bars and the bars are set to the 0 degree index mark in the clamps. I can only assume that the switches are not in the correct position or the index marks are wrong.

Anyone else noticed this?

Dealer will check at first service, it’s no a great issue, but I am curious.
 
Mine is set at 10 degrees the line of 10 degrees should be in line with the line of the middle of the bar clamps, the 0 degree is below the line, this is why your switches and bars are touching the tank, mine has not been touched.

Mine arrived to me set to 0 degrees, I would expect this to be the default? The obvious thing to do is to move it 10, but should it touch at 0? Is something else amiss too perhaps?

Well all I can say is at 10 degrees you have plenty of space, and why worry, as you will not be putting it back to 0, maybe you can set it at 0 with bar risers.

I will get the dealer to move them when it goes in for the first service, just so they can take a look - in the meantime can you move yours to 0 and tell me if yours are the same :)
 
You have a good excuse to fit some Rox risers and improve the comfort.

The future is whatever colour you want.

“Dont turn the bars all the way to left full lock then”
 
Why do bmw seem to think everyone is happy with their bolted on position for switches and levers. I like the switches low so my thumbs can more easily reach the indicators (esp the RH off button) but levers high so I can reach them.
I solved it with aftermarket bars but I found the standard setup very uncomfortable. Not helped by the bolt on LH grip that gives zero adjustment.

My understanding is that situation would fail an MOT test ( if an older bike) so something is not right
