Hi, I have a 02 single spark 650gs with a rather tired engine. What I would like to do is swop it out for the very low mileage twin spark motor from my sons written off
04 Dakah.
I know physically it will go straight in, the question is should I run it as a single spark or a twin ? The twin spark has a different ECU with two outputs to fire the coil packs Z1 Z2 and to use that I may have to swop whole loom with consequent issues around different cockpit arrangement.
Can I connect one coil pack to single ECU output andpiggy back The other from that
Without overloading the ECU output.
Also is the twin spark ignition timing the same for both plugs or even slightly retarded to avoid pinking with the faster burn time in the combustion chamber. I twin plunged a Guzzi Le Man many years ago and had to retard ignition for this reason.
Lots of questions for those of you on hear that may know far mor than I.
Over to you guys
