I currently have Norton Internet security 2005 installed which the subscription has just rum out, so rather than renew the subscription, I purchased Norton 360 instead.

Question is should I un-install Norton Internet Security 05 first, before installing 360, or will it be OK to just go ahead and install 360. I know from reading articles from the past that it was wise to un-install old Norton products first, but the manual that came with Norton 360 doesn't mention this.

Your thought are greatly appreciated. :bow

Oh God Yes.

You are at higher risk of system failure when running two applications that perform the same task at that level than just one and you can't be sure that 360 will uninstall / upgrade 2005.

Another vote for the free AVG here, i had no end of niggly problems with my PC's untill I removed Norton and installed AVG (on the recommendation of the IT Gods here:bow )

Top advice, worked well for me:thumb

I concur also ;)

Suggestion (from an IT pro)

1. Uninstall Norton Internet Security
2. Take Norton 360 back to the shop for a refund
3. Install AVG (or if you feel you MUST pay for something, get McAfee Security Suite and A-V)
4. Never, ever put anything named 'Norton' onto your computer (or even that of your worst enemy!).

At one point in the past, Norton products came bundled with Dell PCs and this kept me in a living for ages - curing all of the problems that Norton causes was a nice little earner! :)

Virgin Media want to give me "PC Guard" antivirus and firewall. It comes with the broadband package but I have not yet installed it because of the horror stories about uninstalling Norton. anybody tried this? Is it any good?

Thanks for the advice guys. Only problem, I've already taken the outer plastic rapping off, so I guess I wont be able to take it back for refund. :o :( :spitfire Dam, should of put this thread up before opening it. :o :tears
