System 5 Chin Strap

Don't get me wrong the System 5 is a good helmet and in certain areas a great improvement on the old System 4, but the chin strap where it passes through the cheek padding is not. Although it will not affect the safety of the lid is a very bad piece of design and will tear through where stitched. It is NOT acceptable on a lid costing £280.
Don't bother buying the Shoei as the syncrotec design is 5 years old and being replaced later this year.
I am still waiting to find out whats going on. BMW and M*** have gone all quiet on me. One more week and then I'll be demanding a full refund or a new lid

My main big bear with the system 5 has to be the condensation though....and the unusual visor shape means there are not a lot of alternatives to the factory standard. If anyone out there has any other ideas about battling the condensation build up let me know ! ...cheers

For some strange reason my tinted S5 visor does not mist up! I had the same on my S4 as well.

Had the same happen to my System 5 as well. Used for about 2 months and tears popped up at the seams of strap cover/sleeve. Brought it back to the local BMW dealer and parts were ordered and replaced at no charge. No problems so far which probably suggests some sort of a design fault.

Fogging and bad helmet hair are my main gripes, otherwise a solid lid. A friend managed to pick up a System V visor for me with Pinloc from BMW Motorrad in Munich which I hope will take of the the fogging issues.

bought mine at Hurst's in Belfast...material around chin strap tore...SPC replaced it under warranty....no dramas.

Top lid...unfortunate about the weak area that tears...but hey ho.
