Has anyone else found the System 5 to be noiser than the System 4 helmet? It is reasonably quiet with all the vents closed, but as soon as I open the chin vent, the wind noise (at anything > 90kph) is unbearable (LOTS noiser than the System4). Have tried playing with the settings on the top and rear vents - all to no avail.

Also, at higher speeds (>140kph) the front vent seems to "leak" air, also causing the noise. If I tape over the front vent, the noise goes away. Have tried it with both the standard and MRA windscreens, so pretty sure it's not screen realted.

Is this a common problem? Do I take it back to the Dealer?

Wow! Is anything more noisy than the System 4?
I bought a system 4 Carbon helmet for £450 and have just sold it on e-Bay because it was too noisy! If the System 5 is worse God help you!

Vents

I can't seem to get my chin vent to work, it makes no difference to the noise whether i have it open or closed and the visor fogs up in both positions. I'm p£$**d off with mine :spitfire

No real experience of the comparison between these helmets but if the noise is 'unbearable' it is almost certainly DAMAGING YOUR HEARING PERMANENTLY.

I'd get some earplugs if I were you

I initially thought the helmet was noisy but I fear it's the dreaded GS buffeting. When I duck right behind the screen out of the airlfow the 5 is very quite. Agree about the chin vent and steaming up. I asked for a new visor under warranty and it seems a bit better.

System 5 Noise

Hah! Should have bought an RT! That'll teach ya. behind the cee bailey's screen I can hold normal conversation on mobby with no noise. Unless I am going across the fens.Geez that crosswind!!!

Weird that - IMHO it's the quietest helmet I have ever owned - and that includes Sytem 2, 3 & 4. I am 5'8 and behind the standard 1200 GS screen it's a dream. Sure there's some noise when the chin vent is open but nothing intrusive. It's also the most comfortable helmet on my head esp around the ears. Are you sure it's the helmet and not instead a combination of neckwear/collar/helmet?

I DO have a problem with condensation on the visor but that's another thread/story.

Cheers :beerjug:
