I would be grateful to see any user reports on a recently purchased System 6 headset.
I spoke to the local dealer today who basically said that thy hadn't sold one for three years because they had connectivity problems. I somehow feel that this is more likely because that can't be arsed to fit them (as they are supposed to be dealer fitted) rather than the fact that there is any problems with these sets.
Would be extremely interested in any feedback of personal use of these units as any info seems rather hard to find. This leads me to believe that either a/ There are not a lot of units out there or b/ They work pretty well, so no one really complains about them !

All comments gratefully received.

My local dealer has a demo helmet with headset fitted for customers to try out before buying. I'm sure if it did not connect to satnav & phone they would be unable to sell any. A new System 6 Evo helmet is due out for 2013. I'm going to wait untill then to buy mine. :thumb2

I had to pay to have the dealer fit ours as they said warranty would be void otherwise.:nenau
Been excellent since we have had them though, only one glitch on holiday when my unit stuck on and would not respond to any button pushes.
It eventually went flat and shut its self down, has been ok since.
Have also had to replace the charging lead on mine as the cable was starting to fray.

I do like the system though, more than loud enough even with earplugs in and not had any connection problems with passenger, Zumo or phone and fully charged will easily last me all day.:flag

Hello Stuart, mine is about 6 months old now with absolutely no problems.
The comms were dealer fitted at the time of purchase and I got 10% off the total bill.
Fully charged I get a full day out on the bike [ 8 hrs ] and I have never flattened the battery [ with music playing between satnav directions ]. It does automatically switch itself off to save power if you forget [ at coffee stops usually ! :augie]
A pleasant surprise has been that every time the comms are switched on - it is still paired to my satnav. A cheaper unit I had used previously had to be regularly paired. I find the volume fine, even at motorway speeds.
My mileage is now much reduced and for pleasure only so I would say it has had light usage and usually in the dry but all in all its a big thumbs up from me.:thumb2

Hi Stuart

I fitted my own (in June 2011, so not 2012 version). Very fiddly but doable (if there is such a word?). If you need the installation instructions PM me.

I have had no problems with the unit and works without issue.

I have given up after three warranty replacements and two for my riding partner. I have two BNIB sets with used chargers (when I pick them up) and two system 6 helmets (1 on second replacement and still leaking round the visor) which we don't use. I would suggest you consider Cardo Scala kit which I have now had two sets of with no problems (sold the first set as I got the BMW, bought the second set due to problems with the BMW) and the Shoie Neotec helmet.

Are you saying you have gone through five bluetooth units between yourself and partner?
What have the problems been?
Just being nosey :thumb:flag

Yup 5 is correct. Partners battery failed out of the box so whole system was replaced, I went through a process where first each individual component of main was replaced on its own (equals 1 whole system) the the whole thing was replaced, now the whole thing has been replaced again...........The problem is that after a random time between 1 minute and 40 minutes one or the other (or both) became so quiet as to be inaudible. The fault appeared about 1 month into daily use of each system and got progressively worse over time. It appears to me that there is a generic fault in one or other of the components which leads to this failure. I also note that ours were in daily use so had more hours accumulated than a leisure only rider would do.

They were dealer installed on each occaision.

I don't even want to talk about the system six helmet...............
