System 6 Visor Mechanism issue..

Hi,

The visor ratchet strip bottom end bump pulled out of the likkle hole last week. I managed to put it back in and sprayed some silicon stuff on.

I think I read that this is not an uncommon issue and that there is an upgraded part to replace it. I want to explain this fully to the Dealer here so as to get him on track to get the upgrade parts.

Does anyone have the new parts fitted and could they put up a photo please?

Any other info out there?

This is a hell of a coincidence. My left hand visor mechanism broke last night. I found the tiniest piece of plastic on the floor. It looks like a little black triangle and I now have no ratchet on the left side of the visor. The helmet is 16 months old and I'm taking it back to the dealer this morning. I'll let you know how I get on.

Nutter, that is bad luck!
Mine is quite free now after a wee spray of silicone on the ratchet.
The dealer here ordered the parts (plastic strip and the piece the visor engages with) and they turn out to be the same as the parts on the helmet already. He is still enquiring about it from BMW.

Hi Bin Ridin,
I took the helmet in and they dismantled and replaced the damaged item while I waited with a cup of coffee. They said although it's a known fault, I was the first one to have it happen with a helmet they've sold. Total cost to myself of ziltch, all under warranty. Great service as always.

Mine (before breaking) had a tendancy to not shut properly without giving it a final push. New parts fitted were reported to sort this problem, and it has. Very happy with the service!

The gents at NOG ordered in and fitted new upgraded ratchet inserts to my System 6 today, free of charge under warranty
The visor mechanism ratchet seems more positive now, like it did when it was new.
