A mini ride report from a day in the Isle of Man.
Having just got hold of my 690 that had been covered in honey and rolled in Rally raid parts I was keen to stretch its legs and see what it ( and I ) could do.

The ball and chain lives and works in IOM so digs are no drama.
A 1400 ferry from Birkenhead saw me hit the Island a little past 1800 o`clock.
Clearly a bit dark this time of year for any lanes so it was an early night and get ready for Monday.

A night was then spent fighting off the wifes advances as I needed to retain all energy for my day on the lanes.
She had a big night planned and wheeled out some serious hardware!

Its a curse being a sexual magnet for the fillies sometimes;)

So Monday morning came without incident and I checked the bike over and lowered the tyre pressures to 20 psi. I had been running 26 as there is a bit of motorway between home and the port.

My First stop was the Laxey wheel to see what the fuss is about.
<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2213_zps6c78db7b.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2213_zps6c78db7b.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

It`s a big wheel......................................moving on,,,,,

My second stop was the annual meeting spot of a few members of this very parish. To name a few of the culprits Timolgra, Flipfly, Ditchwater,,,you get the picture. Gentlemen that, "bowl from the pavilion end".

Was it a threesome then because that sure isn't your flabby torso she's standing on:D

.

.

PS That bike looks fab, especially all in black:bounce1

I headed up the coast road to Ramsey to get used to the bike on some twisties.
<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2215_zps75526b83.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2215_zps75526b83.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

On leaving Ramsey I noticed this young bint trying to hitch a ride to Douglas.
I was about to pull over and show her that chivalry wasn`t completely dead when I remembered I had dropped my tyre pressures below the recommended pillion level. Unlucky love!:nenau

With no GPS on this particular adventure I was relying on Ordnance Survey to show me the lanes.
It wasn`t long before I saw the first signpost than meant fun was moments away!
<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2217_zps5ee6c0ed.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2217_zps5ee6c0ed.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

Being on my own and after leaving my phone in the UK ( an error I will add) I didn`t want to go too mad so approached each corner at a leisurely 50 mph to ensure my cat like reflexes could counter any uncertain bits of terrain.
Some nice loose rock was the first thing I came across.

Although the lanes where decidedly moist I was enjoying the views in between stops.

Shouldn't there be a copyright notice to reference where you got a certain saying from chap? :augie

At the end of this lane I found myself in Sulby bridge (TT fans will know this). I stopped for a map check to decide where I should go next.

In the 10 minutes I was stood next to the bike with the map out I had no less than 3 cars stop to ask If I was lost or I needed help!!! Don`t see that happening in the Peak District.

Just about to fold the map away a Manx bin wagon stopped and they too asked if I was lost.
"nice 690" one of them said and ten minutes later had heard all about his 950 SE and got a great recommend for a lane a couple of miles away.
His question of "how good are you on that thing" vexed me a little as he said the gradient " was a bit steep". I informed him that my talents where formidable and he agreed to point me towards the next track.

A major forest road that snaked through the trees greeted me.

<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2222_zpsfe1d8e49.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2222_zpsfe1d8e49.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

It was indeed quite steep and the thick mud made me think how I would have coped on the HP2??????

The incline carried on and the mud got a bit thicker. This was an opportunity to use the bar mounted mapping switch and turn it to 'girl" setting. As soon as I did this wheel spin ceased and the bike just minced up the hill.

It was a great trail with hairpin switch backs and a great view at the top.

At the top it opened up to a lovely fast track and the 690 lapped it up.
It has got 450 EXC forks and although set quite hard for road use they come into their own on these trails.

A young lady rambler was sauntering past and she agreed to take my pic ( if you show it all your other halves they will be dripping like a fooked fridge:thumb2).

<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2229_zps51f3b72f.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2229_zps51f3b72f.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

She was quite fit and asked me if I had time to give her a face like a plasterers radio but sadly the daylight was fading and I had to crack on!

My girlie has just seen that photo and is now "currently unavailable" as shes stuck to the couch with no clothes on:(

At what point can I safely un peel her without damaging my £299 (Zero Down and 4 Yrs IFC) DFS sofa ??

Oh Ive already hosed that rambler down, she was busy at the time but was mumbling something about "at last a real bloke" or similar :)

Stop Press.............just peeled her of, looked like stretching off a treble cheese slice of pizza

A trail leading into some woods caught my eye and I thought I would check it out.
<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2230_zpsfd63ccd0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2230_zpsfd63ccd0.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

It started to get a bit cheeky so a recce was in order.
<a href="http://s1195.beta.photobucket.com/user/munnyman44/media/IMG_2231_zps74f9846b.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa390/munnyman44/IMG_2231_zps74f9846b.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a>

I decided it would be fine ( big mistake) 20 minutes later I had pushed, pulled, heaved and used strength that an average man could not have mustered to get through this section.
As soon as the wheels hit they sank but I cracked on ( like a tit ) until I turned round and plucked the shit out of my michelin deserts.
