Hi guys,

I have lost the plastic caps to two accessory fittings. The bolt says A2. All the sizing on Amazon for instance is in 'M' sizes. What size cap do i need for this A2 nut......

Please be gentle :bow

It's hard to say the size. A2 is just a grade of stainless steel, not the size. The best way yould be to take it to some hardware store or any mechanic in the neighborhood and they will tell you the size. Just from the photo is hard to tell but it looks like M6.
So, yes, the sizes are M2, M3, M6, M8 etc. "A" is Stainless steel grade.

I think the A2 refers to the grade of stainless steel.
The M mentioned on Amazon refers to the thread diameter - M6 equal a 6mm thread in the nut.

Search eBay for 'protection cap nut'.

I did say I was a numpty. You learn something every day. Thanks for the response guys......:thumb2

What spanner size fits round it? looks like a 13mm nut which would an M8, if it's 10mm it's an M6

It's a 13mm nut......well done all for the help. Will order M8's :thumb2

Working on machinary fitted with metric fastners,we are used to sizes etc,but lots of people use the spanner size when ordering replacements, not the thread sizes. Also complications arise with ISO spec because what was a 17mm spanner size is now 16mm,and 19 mm spanner size is now18mm on OEM fixings,or a torx size head.
Plenty of charts on Google stating thread size against spanner size.
I have found a couple of dot punches on a couple of flats on the nut or bolt head help the plastic cover to remain in place, hope you get sorted.
