Just did a bit of a search and found a couple of helpful posts and had some second hand advice passed on from Steptoe via Charlie Batty but thought I'd ask directly...

All I need to do is take the filler cap and tank innards out of one tank and put them in another. It doesn't seem too difficult but would like to know if you've got any do's and don'ts / helpful hints

Be careful to ensure that the short 4 or 5mm studs that retain the round plate are in good order.

Buy new o'rings for this plate & the filler neck, keep the old ones as spares.

Fit quick fuel disconnects if not already fitted. Ensure you've got plenty of 12mm fuel pipe clips to hand.

If fitting an Adventure tank, you'll need a length of decent fuel pipe of the right bore for the crossover fuel pipe and the 90 degree quick fuel disconnect. You may also want to fit an additional 90 degree fitting to the other end of the crossover fuel pipe so that you never need to remove it, makes tank removal & fitting quicker & easier.

If it leaks and doesn't run, you've done it wrong.

If it stays dry, and the bike fires up and runs, your the forum expert on tank innard fitting :thumb

Yeah - that's the advice Charlie said you gave him...

It's probably why he never did it :D

Knowing my spanner work it'll be the first one

Possu - o-ring spares seem like a sensible precaution :thumb

Yes.....be very careful here...clean the the threads and use new nuts.

I snapped one of mine off :o :o but there`s no leaks.....

The "O" ring you'll be using will have shrunk back to normal size ( if it's the one you got from charlie ) , so will be perfectly usable ;)
