Okay, I admit it, I was bored, so actually started to read the on-line manual.

I promise I won't do it again :augie

Anyway, page 10 500/550 owners manual says this (pic below) about "taking a better route". Anyone ever seen this icon? Doesn't say anything about being linked to the traffic thing.............

I ask as I drive the same route home form work and if I re-calculate the route it takes me a quicker way (which I'd worked out myself anyway). If I don't recalculate, it stays on the longer route.

Never seen the icon. But also find the detour button a complete waste of time!

You only see it if you have the optional FM traffic receiver plugged in.

I've got one and it works :thumb2

I too use the traffic receiver when in the car, but it comes up with a red boarded triangle with the delay in minutes in it. Select the triangle and it shows you where the delay is and asks if you want to avoid it.

BTW the delay and the new arrival time seem to go a bit haywire when there's traffic delays :( Latest Zumo and Traffic Receiver software using the webupdater: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00567-00
