Taking it off the centre stand?

He means he left the side stand down while it was on the centre stand, and then pushed it off the centre stand. So then the side stand dug in threw the bike to the side. ;)

Ahh I see now. A drawing illustrating the action or a short video would have helped :thumb

Good man Stedders for asking this question...I've been wondering about it for the last (my first) 200km too.
I was struggling where I'd left the bike pointing up hill. Been using the climb on and 'thrust' it off the stand approach but if you get a bit of an incline you have to rut like a demented pig to enourage the wee beast of the stand.

Didn't even think of trying to drive it off:eek

Snooky,

All very well filling up and just riding off-what about getting off to PAY for it?
The most important thing to check before putting ON the stand, make sure it's in neutral!.

Side Stand needs care ...

Depending upon the level of the surface under the bike (and with a full tank) it is possible to push it off the centre stand and whack the side stand off the ground as the bike drops all its weight down.

Worse still, you can inadvertantly have your big toe on the spot where the side stand whacks down ... as happened to a, erm, friend of mine. V painful & embarrassing - all that hopping about in leathers etc. :augie

I normally sit on the bike, lift up the side stand (see above) and then push it off the centre stand with my toes on the floor on either side (I'm 6 feet tall, so not huge) and a groin thrust (oo'er). Then fire her up and proceed. Haven't tried the dirve off the centre stand trick ... which I will now do somewhere quiet with no one looking, just in case.

Cheers,

Psyko

Hi Greencat - yeah, started something didn't I?! Of course it means if I ever catch up with you guys you'll all be watching as I skillfully flip it off the cnetre stand!!
