Tales from the bunkhouse too
DAY 1
Myself and PaulXC had trailered down to Chirk and met up with Fridays posse at Mc Donalds nearby. Everybody was on bigger bikes than myself but the organisers gave me special dispensation as so far I’ve only been out twice, I’m shit and I need to get some serious practice in because I was persuaded to enter the Ryedale Rally this year by Pipster & Zapada.
LtoR - MickDB1 on his Yam , PaulXC on his XC, my DRZ, Phil (Pipster) on his SE , Terry (KTM525) our trail leader for the day on his 1150GSA and John (DocSavage) on his 12GSA behind him.
Docs bike was absolutely mintier then a mint thing…and so was his tw*t suit………for now. The weather was kinder than forecasted . Bit overcast and quite breezy but not too cold, no rain and there were some breaks in the cloud cover. 8 to 10 degrees. Great weather for laning.
Pipster & Doc
I apologies in advance for not remembering any of the lanes names except the Wayfarers so I can’t tell you where this was but it was pretty steep and quite slippy. The trick, so I was told before my turn was pretty much to stay low to the right where it’s gravely. Unfortunately nobody told Paul and he came to grief when his back wheel spun out completely on a slippy slab of rock and he ended up on his side at right angles to the hill. You can just see in this shot Micky giving him a hand to turn it round.
Phil showing how its done.

John at the front of the group on his now less than mint GSA after an eventful couple of trails. He can throw that GSA around when he wants to tho.
The sun was coming out now and it was turning into a very pleasant day. So whilst Phil and Mick discussed the servicing costs and merits of the LC8 engine ….
…our Terry was leading the rest of us towards some sunshine, some more trails….
………….and also some largish puddles……...Terry leads the way.

A brief stop for a bite and a drink ( Terry doesn’t like stopping much
) and John decided it was so sunny he’d top up his tan………personally I think with his complexion he should have creamed up but none of us were going to volunteer for that job.
<a href="http://s218.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/Rushy_02/Wales%20laning%20Day1/?action=view¤t=BunkhouseWknd_20090327_3524.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/Rushy_02/Wales%20laning%20Day1/BunkhouseWknd_20090327_3524.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Terry asks the farmer to dump his load of shit on “ that fekkin orange pile of shit over there “
Then it was onto the Wayfarers where Terry gets his front wheel stuck in a large gap between the sleepers……………..
<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i218.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid218.photobucket.com/albums/cc139/Rushy_02/Wales%20laning%20Day1/BunkhouseWknd_20090327_3526.flv">

Terry then tries to sabatoge Phil by removing the bits of wood that they’d scavenged to try to fill the gap with ………….he fails, and resorts to jibes

Some last few pictures from the Wayfarers……………
Looking back to where we’d just come from

Paul and I left the group after the Wayfarers to go back to the cars, he had family commitments but I was going to get down to the bunkhouse near Dolgellau that Phil had booked. Rudiemoto had already joing the group on his 1150GSA when I finally got there, and soon to arrive after that was Steve73(12GSA) with his freshly fitted TKCs and his lovely spotless bike and Mav on his HP2.
L to R Mav,Pip & Rudie in the bunkhouse kitchen
A few of us headed down to the supermarket in my motor and bought £100 quids worth of food ( and some booze) and with Micky & John acting as head chefs a superb spag bol’ was prepared for everyone. Then the days video and pics were played back on the large plasma in the kitchen with much pisstaking……………oh yeah.

Clockwise from my white head with the bald patch, Docs knees, Micky the gent, Terry the leader, Mav , Phil the organiser, Rudie and Steve the virgin
That’s enough for now ……..Day 2 will follow tomorrow.
