Tales from the Morocco 3

But we're having a miserable time - having to ride our bikes every day, off road & on road in blazing sunshine with food & coffee stops every hour or two. I really want to come home to see my family & go back to work.....

Hey Jockser any chance you'd drop that i-phone in the pool and spare us the sob storeys:green gri:green gri:green gri

I haven't had any further updates from the lads, but here is a pic of Sam that I hadn't posted.

Is that an action shot of Sam going over the bars? Or is he just fixing the handuard and doesnt want to get sand on his boots?

Sunday evening update

After a bike-free day on Friday we had a couple of Horizons Unlimited presentations after dinner. One was by a Poetugese guy who'd done the Pan American & the other by a Czech with an interpreter, who'd ridden a Chinese 200cc bike from China to Rotterdam!!

Saturday was a spin around some great trails around Erfoud before returning to the hotel for a swin, dinner and more HU presentations.

Up early this morning for some piste (& lots of sand) on a circuitous route to Errachidia in order to meet up with Sams shock tomorrow. Currently sitting in the shade at Source de Bleu Meski, a busy swimming area near Errachidia while the lads decide which way to head. :)

Great to hear the updates. I was in regular text contact with Jochen while I was over there at the same time. Looking forward to the photos and report and hopefully they'll find my camelbak reservoir somewhere on the pistes between Midelt and Imilchil!!

sounds great

you all seem to be having a great time .while we are stuck here working .:the updates are good and gets us in the mood for holidays to come ..:beerjug::clap:clap

Latest updates

Got texts from Jochen late last night and this morning.

No shock yesterday!! It was due to arrive in Errachidia in the morning but on checking with DHL Sam found it was stuck in Customs and also that DHL don't deliver to Errachidia!!

So, after another bike free day we set off for Goulmima and the road via the mountains to Assoul & Ait Hani. Unfortunately the entire route is now sealed, but it's a cracking road.

Lunch of bread & cheese was taken in a dry river bed before carrying on down the Todra Gorge to Tinehir. A swim was followed by a walk into town for dinner & then bed.

This morning is a touch cloudy, our first for over 10 days, so hopefully it won't be quite as hot as it has been. Today we're off to do M4 & on south to Zagora.

Wednesday report

About 25km east of Tinehir we passed the start of M4 and continued for another few clicks & turned south onto piste which ran in a big arc to M4, most of which is now tarmac. Only a bit at the Alnif end isn't done, but soon will be. :(

Then a run on a "main" road brought us to our tea stop at Tazzarine. Just a bit south of town we turned off onto the longest piste I've ever done. Over 100km of everything except bog!! We had garvel, gravel with corrugations, stones, sand and a hard whiteish surface with wheel ruts. And all done in (to us Paddys anyway) fierce heat.

We'd had a few drops of rain and one thunder roll during our picnic lunch but it did nothing to relieve the heat. By the time we got to Zagora both Sam and I were relieved to see the tarmac, but I think Daithi would have gone on.......

Swim, dinner, stroll & bed.

*********************************************************

Thursday morning I had to sort some missing bolts from the tank so we started late with some small tracks before taking piste & then road to N'kob.

Swim, dinner, stroll & bed.

Anyone else see a pattern emerging here???
:augie

You're going round in circles??

Nekob's only 18 miles west of Tazzarine. :(

More news

At the hotel in N'kob we met 2 Scottish guys on an 1150 & a 1200 and they decided to follow us over the mountains to Boulmane. Another cracking piste rising to over 2000m.

Almost at the top we found a wee café run by a Berbere family where we spent a relaxing two hours drinking tea and shooting the breeze. Just as we were about to leave Graham discovered a puncture on his 1150 which was promptly repaired but was followed by 3 more before days end!!

In Boulmane the chosen hotel only had tents available so we were like tribesmen for the night. :ymca

Saturday dawned bright and warm. Our new friends decided they wanted a day off, so wouldn't be joining us on our route to Imilchil. Through the Dades Gorge the road is sealed but after Msemrir we took the link road to the Todra. 40km of the roughest piste I've ever seen, but again stunning scenery. Shame I'd broken my camera in the Dades. :blast Then it was tar for a while followed by more piste most of th eway to Imilchil.

Our chosen hotel only had a Berbere tent available and as there was a stiff breeze blowing we decided against that. They said there was a hotel 16km further on and so we opted for that, only there was no hotel after 25km so we had to return in the dark.

Today (Sunday) we're sticking to tar as there's a few iffy tummies in our little group. Next stop Azrou.............

Final update

Sunday

As we were having a good run at it (all road through nice rolling countryside) we decided to keep going to Fes where Sam was finally to pick up his shock.

However, when he checked next morning, it was still in Casablanca!! So he asked them to ship it home again..............................

Monday

was a pure road run from Fes to Fnideq via some minor roads to Volubilis where we had a short lunch stop. So on to the Ibis where, just as we were finishing dinner, Graham & Al turned up. A bit of catching up over a couple of drinks and it was off to bed.

Tuesday

morning we all headed to the border together & subsequently onto the ferry. Once we hit the mainland Al headed off to Alicante while Graham came for a tour of Gibraltar with us. He then set off to Torremolinas while we spent the night near Marbella.

Wednesday

This morning it was straight to the shippers to dismantle the bikes & put everything back into the crates. Now in the airport waiting to check in and fly home. :(

Thank you

:clap :clap that were good that was :thumb2 :clap :clap
