My broadband and landline are both through TalkTalk on a contract which has now expired. I've been looking around at the deals from other ISP's but the catch is that I have my landline with TT. The other ISP's need a BT line. To go back to BT I have to take out a mininum 12 month contract for line rental.

As an alternative the Post Office can provide a line, but it costs £107.

Does anybody have a solution/experience of leaving TT?

I have a suggestion that may help.

You can go back to BT easily and possibly free if you sign up to the evening and weekend plan. Next you will need to organise to have your calls routed via a third party supplier. I would suggest a visit to http://www.primussaver.co.uk
It costs nothing to join, there is no monthly charge and all evening/weekend calls are free for the first hour of each call, hang up before the hour is up then re-connect, calls is still free. All you will pay is BT's line rental. Primus daytime calls cost 3 p per minute. Mobiles are more expensive and for these it is worth going to 18185.com and subscribing to them for mobile calls. It'as a pre-fix service you just prefix the mobile number with 18185 and the most you pay per minute is 7p.

I'm not an agent and I'm sure there are lots of other options available. This is what I used before I got my broadband from Sky.
