Tank bag recommendation

I’ve got a tour coming up and as a fan of having a tank bag for on the trip essentials I’m looking for recommendations. I’d prefer something that holds quite a bit, wet weather over gear, tools, oil safety stuff etc and also easy on and off for refuelling. I’ve got the enduro pack so bar risers from the factory if that makes a difference.

Thanks. The V3 is more the size I’m looking for but the strap system might not work with the R12 tank.

I like the tank ring bags that clip on and off easily. Last bike I used a Kappa (same company as Givi) tanklock bag

On the current bike, the SW Motech version is a better fit and I have this waterproof bag that is 5 litres or 8 litres if you undo a zip to allow it to expand.

Having used SW Motech on my last few bikes I wanted something similar for the R12G/S the tank ring is the problem
I know Wessie’s link says it’s for an R12G/S but my fuel filler is different to the one shown in the link. Mine has 5 screws but they’re all under the lockable flap. There’s no screws on the external ring as shown there

I’m definitely leaning towards the SW Motech but I see what you mean. My screws are hidden under the flap too.

That’s a lot of ‘stuff’ to have in a tank bag.

Do you really need it all in a tank bag? Surely, tools, safety stuff, oil and wet weather gear (all of which you’ll probably not need to access / use every five minutes) would be much better carried somewhere else. The bag will otherwise be unnecessarily bulky and probably heavy, depending on what tools and other unspecified etc items you take along.

On my little Himalayan, I have dispensed with a tank bag entirely. Instead, along with the bike’s modestly sized panniers, I have opted for a basic squarish soft bag (it’s sort of box shaped) to sit on either the pillion seat or the rear rack. Into this I put a simple waterproof bag, which holds my passport, phone, wallet, driving licence, V5, other documents and disc lock.

Fuel stops are easy, as there is no tank bag. At a cafe stop, I simply open the soft bag and lift out the waterproof bag. I put the disc lock on and go into the cafe. Everything else stays on the bike.

I use the same waterproof bag, when I go away on four wheels, minus the disc lock.

note the light grey bit which appears to be a spacer to place the black part above the tank filler. I have similar on my V85 so that the black part does not contact the tank.

50 years of motorcycle touring and countless thousands of miles I know what works for me! Everyone has their own preferences I guess. I like to keep my ‘bike’ bits separate from my travel gear.

Shad. I have the 9 litre one but it sounds as though you might need a bigger one. Clip on and off. Locks to the tank ring and bag itself can be locked. Some are expandable. Carry strap and waterproof cover. I used to have a Mosko Moto Nomax but the faff drove me nuts.

I buy “ Enduristan “ brand tank bags ,,, seen some horrific rain at times NONE of them have ever let in a drop of water .
