Can anyone recommend a tank bag for a 12 plate Triple Black?

On my previous non GS bikes I have always used Bagster tank covers and bags but the different shape of the GS tank does not seem to lend itself those.

Any opinions? The small BMW bag would suit my requirements but it seems expensive for what it is and it does not have the advantage of protecting the tank.

Any Bagster users, what bag would you recommend?

I use the small BMW tank bag on my twin cam. Your right it is expensive but I find it extremely useful without getting in the way. I only use it on trips away and it is quoted as having 5lt capacity. I find this perfect for passport/ othe docs, spare gloves, first aid kit, spare bulbs flouro and puncture kit. I like to have a map so that's a bonus and there is a small pocket right in front of you for ear plugs etc.

It fits perfectly and looks good on the bike. It's a yes from me....

I'll be using my existing Wolfman Ranier on my new (to me) TC Adv. I bought it for my 1100GS and tried it for size on my TC last night. It fits perfectly and clears the bars etc. It doesn't have the convenience of the SW Motech's quick release but I'm used to it and it's just the right size for trips. (And my toy fund is severely depleted and can't stretch to the £200+ for the SW Motech, tank ring / electrics etc).

I have a bagster cover and bag, got the cover cheap of fleabay and swapped an old bagster bag for a new one with a friend. The Bmw ones are waterproof I believe so no messing around with a flappy cover. I had a bmw one on an old bike and found the front attachment a bit fiddly. The tank shape is awkward but its the same with most of the bags. Just means you have to pack it cleverly!

I use the standard BMW one.

Well made bit of kit, plenty of pockets, straps etc and fits a treat.

Standard BMW bag for me, expandable, waterproof, functional. Does not seem to get in the way when on the bike.

This is on my old bike, fits my twin cam just the same.

BMW bag (large)

I’ve used a large BMW tankbag on my 04 12GS since I’ve had it (2010) and I really like it, compared to various others over the years, including a bagster on an Africa Twin.

It came included with the bike, so my incentive to like it was pretty high, but if it was lost/stolen, I’d get another one, but definitely secondhand (being tight). Seems waterproof.

It’s only used on trips, though. On a day to day basis (going to work, etc) I use the topbox, so what do I know?

+1 for SW Motech

Meant to say, bagster bags seems to have flat bottoms so when fitted the tank "pushes" into the available space restricting space. All in all despite fiddly front fitting the genuine bag is better IMO.

Like the dark screen. Is it a genuine bm or after market one? Thread hijack..sorry!

Ta, know they're quite pricey front bm. I think a light bike like yours would look better with a clear screen and dark screen on a red bike, like mine ;-) !

I think the dark screen looks just right on mine :)

I bought a 60 quid TT bag off the bay. Easy on and off and enough for a day trip. Yes you loose space due to tank, but it mainly gets used as a dog basket

Could do with a larger one though
