I've just got a genuine BMW auxiliary power outlet kit (feed from back of existing power outlet, not direct from battery) and the fitting instructions include removing the tank. If necessary that's not really a problem, but does anyone know if it can be done (properly) with the tank in place? Will be a few days before I can get round to doing it anyway.
