Tank Slapper my ARSE

..And how much abuse did I get with my "Shame on you, Bike Magazine" comment ?!

It could be because.. well, it was you :D

..But.... just one thing... If I were 63 I wouldnt be prepared to wait till Autumn, I'd kill for one next week. After all, who knows whats in store for us....:roll

And on that jolly note :blast :D

Mate, welcome to the club, having spent the weekend hooning around on my new one I can assure you it is AWESOME.

The optimist speaks the truth, 63 ! Tick tock tick tock etc.. (Jumblemo has very low expectations of his longevity, it's his lifestyle choices...)

Seriously, don't lose a summer - I know the adventure will be released but no guarantees on dates and unless you really need the different spec, I'd get a bike now and enjoy. What do you need on an adventure right now the current bike doesn't offer and is worth the time lost? I personally wouldn't buy an adventure anyway but your choice is another summer lost which is higher in cost to me.

..... The only time they got it to miss behave slightly when they were running on a really rough washboard section with the cruise on at 60mph, Enduro setting on and hands off the bars and it's hardly surprising.

If you were to do that in normal situations you would deserve to be thrown of the fucking thing :augie

But that's how you rode most of the way to the Atigun Pass last year:D

Thanks but the delay is strictly financial. I have a perfectly good r100r which is great fun (in a Beetle v. Golf GTi sort of way) so the summer is not lost. In any case the summer belongs to the new camper van, I actually prefer Autumn, winter and spring riding - summer is usually way too hot for me (unless I'm on my c1 in my tee-shirt and shorts :bounce1)

Even at my low rate of usage it should be nicely bedded in by the spring.

Enjoy your rides everyone.

That may be true mate but I had the super stable old school 1200GSA with squared off K60's which makes a perfect platform for making tea on the go as well:thumb2

Danger

:eek
Well I think the truth has arrived at last. Im told from an insider that the Journo who had a so called tank slapper was riding like an arsole. Now hear this its a Classic. He was riding cross country cruise control engaged stood up on the rest and get this one. (No Hands) Hit a Rut and guess what:blast And now some light has been shed on the fatal accident to one of the best motorcycle journalist about. Kevin Ash. He was hit by another rider. Im also told that there is a possible law suit by BMW with the Mag that the Journo works for about miss reporting of the tank slapper. Don't ya just love it. So all you riders that have a toilet roll, in your tank bag, just in case. Leave it at home. Just don't ride like an asshole:thumb

Still don't have my bike. It will have cruise though and I thought it would be fun passing cars with my arms folded, sitting on the pillion seat.========== Maybe I wont.

If it happened to a relative of anyone that slags this 'saga' off , you'd be supporting Caroline Ash in her search for answers, as well as every press report that went public.
Because it has no emotional effect on you, in any way, it allows apathy and ignorance to take to the stage as the default mode of the species.

I don't have any relatives with an LC. If it happens to me, judging by all the hype, I'm guessing that I'll not walk away from a tank slapper, so won't be in a position to worry about it.:aidan

Sad really on all levels, Mrs Ash wont get the answers she thinks she deserves, BMW will of checked out the bike and will of made their conclusions that wont include an admission of negligence because there may not be one. The other rider did not collide with Mr Ash, so it will remain for Mrs Ash, unresolved, and for everyone else resolved.

so three guys have had a tank slapper so the bikes a lemon:blast what about the other rider who was involved that seems to be forgotten about any news form him whoever he may be :nenau
