Anybody tell me what usually screws into these holes? It's that tank that's going onto the ST and want to know if I should be welding more mounts onto the frame.

Those aren't standard lugs -They've been welded onto the tank for whatever reason. .

"A" are points to which a cross-bar connects; see item 3 to 5 below. You need to remove this to remove the tank so I assume it is to stablise the tank.

"B" does not seem stock.

Thanks.

Maybe I'll lose 'B' and weld something to the frame that'll allow me to stabilise that tank at points 'A' with some kind of rubber mounts.

Ignore them..
crossbar only used on EGR models..
thats the "sealed breathing" part you've shown
EGR = a pain in the arse, and best removed imho :)

What he said

DONT weld anything to the frame..
Tank is rubber mounted at the front and the rear clip over frame tube in front of seat..
Fastening the tank rigidly to the frame could cause major probs, not least in an accident......
I dropped an R75/6 :eek and was very glad to see the petrol tank 100 foot away from the bike when the world re righted itself ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Good point, although I wouldn't have mounted it rigidly for fear of it cracking due to vibration if nothing else. I was interested in whether those points were used to rubber mount the tank to stabilise it so that it wasn't inclined to 'roll' - which it tends to when it's full. I'll take the mounts off in light of the advice i've received.

So what does the cross-bar do (apart from making it harder to remove tank :) )? I've removed my EGR.

I don't have the cross-bar - it didn't come with the tank. It occurs to me that it might contribute to the stiffness of the tank though - and prevent the central seam being over-stressed?

Why bother cutting them off? Just leave them there unless they're causing you a problem.
I'm pretty sure I've seen B on a tank before BTW.
