Just bought another bike and I need to get road tax, although cant remember how many days before the end of the month I should wait ( dont want to pay for November)!!!!!!
Thanks
Steve
I could do with knowing the same thing.I intend putting the winter shed on the road at the very start of next month, but would like everything sorted this coming week.Bike is insured,MOT pre booked but like Steve I don't want to end up going too early and paying for Nov.No,I haven't been riding it on the road, only up and down my drive to see if it works.
mike's right, if you ride it anytime during any month , that month's tax is payable. Best to tax on the 1st of the month you want it for.
The 14 days before the end of the month rule is for a continuation using the renewal form.

What a rip off.....................considering my old bike I changed from is sitting there with current road tax(untill April 04). and will not be gracing the road until the dealer sells it,why I should now pay for the last 22 days is beyond me.Talk about two bits of the cherry?
WHOOPS nearly fell of my soap box.
Thanks though for all the input

I quite agree that the present method of road tax is unfair and a rip off. I think that tax should be included in the fuel price as that way you only pay for what you use and nobody can avoid paying road tax but the government knows they are onto a good thing and prefers to rip us off. I use my Camper van a few weekends a year and a couple of 2 week holidays but it has to have a full years road tax and it really annoys me.
The fact is as Mike says even if you use it on the road the last day of the month you need that full months road tax.
