Well it started off well after finding a nice 1250 I wanted and agreeing a trade in price ready to collect on a Sat. Paid the deposit, paid the balance and then told I need to wait 2 weeks for a part as it was needed after going through the workshop. Fair enough I will have to wait although I insured the bike from the original Sat collection date. Surely they should have put the bike through the workshop prior to advertising it on sale?

3 emails and no replies, 4 calls and even left messages but still no replies. Cant say Im an impressed at all at the moment as purely a call back isnt that hard and part of the service expected. Im 100 miles away or I would drive in and see whats going on and why I have had zero reponses. 😠So this morning called yet again so we will see if I even get a reply back.

Never had this issue with Ocean its simply they didnt have the bike I wanted.

Not good, I've had the same with a main dealer over here.

You would think so wouldn't you :blast

It's common practice for dealers not to prep vehicles prior to their sale. Imagine spending time & money servicing & sticking new tyres on a bike, that ends up being traded on or traded on within the group.

DL don't have any Motorrad Dealers (other than Bristol) within their group so IMO all used stock should have already gone through their workshop and be available to ride away once a deal has been agreed.

I am still waiting a phone call on a trade in value for my Road King with Guildford Harley Davidson. I took the time to ride over there on 8th July (140 mile round trip) and heard fuck all since.

I rode my 1200 RT over to Swindon to look at a trade in against an R1250GS. That was two weeks ago and I've heard fuck all since.

I always work on the basis that they have to sell a motorcycle to put food on the table.

I don't have to buy one !

anyone with any sense in Oxford, Wiltshire or Bristol areas should go to Cotswold in Cheltenham. Effectively a separate two storey building dedicated to bikes. All of the staff you encounter are Motorrad specific and no sharing a lounge with the car driving coffin dodgers like in Shrewsbury etc.

Not motorbike related but found a nice Edition 1 Audi A3 at JCT 600 york, paid deposit having had a drive. During the drive found a problem with the satnav -it thought we were in Buxton!
Anyway a lack of returned calls and messages, price changes during the purchase process the reduction not being advised then it went back up higher!

Decided they clearly don't want my wife's money enough to scrape together a semblance of customer service so have cancelled the sale, requested deposit return and have found a rather nice alternative...

Oh the one that really got my goat was that I should take the car during August as the used car warranty was being reduced from 12 to 6 months!, confirmed by Head Office, that it was under discussion within the brand, though 'they shouldn't be telling that to anyone...

Found the arse, still looking for the elbow.

Try Sykes Harley Davidson they are brilliant and give swift decisions

The problem is Robbo, for me, the moment has now passed

I'm quite impulsive and will buy a bike, on the spot, if a deal can be done

They had a used bike I was interested in. I took a test ride, then asked what the cost would be for me to change. The 'salesman' who revealed to me he had previously worked there as a driver/valeter, promised to come back to me the following day and he didn't, so fuck em !

I've been to Sykes many years ago and was impressed (y)

The staff are nice enough at Dick Lovett its the process which is pants I think which causes the frustration for customers reading reviews.

Carbase in bristol are the worst I ever dealt with

Agreed and PX value and liked the new car so drove up and the new car was covered in dust with the excuse its been parked in a compound. When I went to pick it up I had already arranged a time but sat 1 1/2 hrs waiting to be be seen. Stage 2 was then warranty which was another hour! Sat there watching some "Area Manager" typing away and an very awkward silence when I told him I didnt want the extra warranty. Another hour later I finally saw a 4th person who I said dont worry about the guide etc please just give me the keys and paperwork as Ive been waiting long enough! Lesson learnt

Same dedicated setup in Bristol with DL.

I bought a bike from DL in Bristol a few years back. Nice enough at the beginning, reasonable if a bit low on the part exchange price but they were the only dealer with the spec I wanted. Deal was done. Then nothing. I emailed the guy a couple of times (no reply) and called but couldn’t get through. After a week I finally got someone who said the original guy was on leave! Collection date arranged and I turned up after a 100 mile ride. No one was interested, all staring at their computer screens. Asked one guy, stared at me as if I’d landed from Mars and said he was waiting for a customer to arrive. The sales manager finally got off the phone and the deal was done. Bike was thankfully in the showroom but the whole place had a most unfriendly atmosphere. My local Aldi has more life FFS! I needed a part it happened they had in stock but even the parts guy acted like I’d murdered his family! No follow up call/email to check all was OK either.

Needless to say I won’t be buying a bike from them ever again.

You were told it would be two weeks, you describe that as “fair enough” so what is the problem?

Regardless of whether they should have put it through their workshops prior to advertising it, you've accepted the delay as “fair enough”…… surely you just wait the two weeks?

I am a long standing DL customer but with BMW cars and dealt with both Hungerford and Swindon. Have heard that Bristol is a little non responsive, but as it is their largest dealership (and with bikes) can be expected. Trick is - you phone the main number, hit zero and get the operator. They will send an email to the Sales chap or team. They get loads so might miss yours. Get the direct email to who you are dealing with and their direct phone number. Say at the time that regular contact is important to you and how is this facilitated. If you are not happy insist that the operator put you through to the dealer principle. This always gets a response...

I've just been making enquiries with them on an r18. Taken me 2 days and 3 attempts to speak to a salesman. I'll go elsewhere i think

Bought my 1250 through them but it was flawless as I was dealing with a mate.
He left.

My word they are a PITA to deal with. Trade in values, PX discussions, I just wrote them off. Unless you buying a new bike through their finance, they not interested.

If they are not replying to calls and emails I would simply send an email to their complaints email providing them with your experience and suggest you wish to cancel the deal. Businesses hate complaints and have a duty to show they are taking any complaint seriously. I guess you will still want the 1250 but they may still sweeten the deal for your poor service received! It's worked for me before with another dealership.
