Hi,

I appreciate that this has probably been asked before but does anyone have any strong thoughts either way?

I'm planning to use them mostly for everyday commuting and touring on a 1150gsa and want a taller boot to stop my HG summit trousers riding up on a long run as well as the protection etc.

Currently got a pair of aging Daytonas.

Thanks.

Adventure Boots. Put em on in the shop, didnt wanna take em off. Comfortable right from the word go and an ideal intermediate boot from road to MX. Had a pair of Alpinstars a while ago and sold em cos they were too stiff, These are really comfortable and a lot stiffer than a road boot but forgiving enough for road use IMHO Have had a pair of SIDI Canyon boots since 2007 and these are a fine boot too.

Went from an ageing pair of Daytonas to TCX Infinity. The TCX are a great pair of boots, more than adequate for road riding. Feel as though they've more protection than my Daytonas for a fraction of the price. Did consider the Sidi's but they looked at bit OTT for the road.

The TCX infinitys and the Hein Gericke equivalent are more or less the same boot as are the BMW Santiargo.

I would see what the best deal you can get on either of them.

I have the Hein Gericke version, they've never let me down in torrential rain and are comfy to walk in :)

TCX Infinity are amazing.

Had mine since the days that TCX were called Oxtar.

They must be about 8 years old and never leaked a drop !!

Most comfortable boots I've ever owned including Daytona's etc costing twice as much !!

Gaerne G Midland

I'd add the Gaerne G Midland to the equation too. Similar to the Sidi, but less plastic and less expensive. Just about to order some having been through the whole 'adventure' boot debate myself. The Sidi's can tend to fit a little on the narrow side and I find Gaerne boots a little wider and a better fit.

TCX

I have just ridden back from Ireland yesterday, you all know what the weather was like. The worst wind and rain I have ridden in for a long time. I was wearing my TCX Infinity boots that I bought from Rodger at Get Geared in Leeds. I have never worn boots that were as comfortable from new. They did not let as much as a drop of water in. I would recommend them to anyone.:thumb2

Another spanner ...

... in the works; have a look at Dainese Visoke :thumb

Had mine for a couple of years now and they generally do what they say on the tin.

Try on a pair of Gaerne Balance boots either the oil or classic meaning an oiled leather or black one. Very comfortable trials boot with good protection and waterproof that you can walk around in all day. I found that few makes of boots fit my feet as I'm sort of between sizes. TCX, Sidi, Forma, Diadora, Wulfsport don't fit me as they're either to narrow or too much space front to rear. Alpinestars (46), Gaerne and W2 (45) fits me quite well. As always the comfortable boot is the one you're going to wear most of the time.

Or try the Alpinestars Scout. Posh looking adventure style boot which has good reviews in the states.

I have the BMW boots very comfy good to walk in and touring...light trail.. but not tough enough for serious offroad.
