Hi All,

Sorry to be such an idiot But..........:)

My mates CG125 starts ( kickstart ) and the lights work but the indicators and horn will only work if you revs the nuts out of it.

Does this seem like a battery /alternator problem. a new battery is only £13 but just wanted to know if im advising him correctly

any ideas :bow

you need to put a voltmeter across the battery terminals

it should be around 12 volts before starting and whilst running it should sit up around 13.5 volt only rising to 14.8 max

If the battery has been low on electrolyte then there is no where to store the charge! And damage can occur to the regulator rectifier gizmo!

So My thoughts would be to test the battery that is in there and see what volts it holds if it's only holding 11 or less then I would say it's on the way out

If you go down the way of a new battery remember to clean all the terminals and earths, in fact you could try that before buying a new battery just to be sure to be sure :aidan :aidan

Good luck

It will be the battery that is causing the problem. They are very small and they need to be roperly charged otherwise you will get the symptoms you describe. The BMF training centre I used to be involved with had a number of CG125's and we learnt early on to keep the batteries charged up.

Plus 1:thumb. Charge the battery, or take the bike for a long ride and it should be sorted.
