Good morning,
Whilst my GS is off the road having a extensive service I have been looking at the space in my garage where my NC30 once lived (sold at the start of the year) and still itch for a machine that is a bit more geared towards the sporty end of the spectrum over the GS..
I have always liked the Boxercup bikes but as these are gaining value and my own justification for only really wanting to spend a more modest amount I have seen that the R1100S prep bikes are still very reasonable and numerous in numbers.
Now the crux of the matter, I actually want to use this bike from some serious sports riding, I have done a lot of trackdays in the past and would normally be in the Intermidiates or fast group depending on track and it is something I would like to get back into in the future if only to hone my skills and to keep my riding in top shape.
I do not believe I have ever seen a R1100S being used on track and certainly have no one to ask any question of hence I would think if there is someone tracking these bikes it would be here???..
I am firmly interested in the "prep" model not the standard S, Do these come with the same handle bar height as the Boxercup bikes that are situated lower?..
I know the easy answer is to say we'll just get a CBR600 but in all honesty I now know my way around a boxer engine, I like the platform all be it scared shitless about the possible spline issue!!!!!! .. I would not be scared to park it somewhere like I would a full on sports bike, insurance is very cheap.. Plus it's different..
I can still head to Europe for a tour and scratch or head to Lydden hill for a cheeky trackday. I can get one for my budget of £2500-3000 and it leaves money in the bank for full servicing and suspension refresh.
Any in put most welcome
