Technoflex: who's got 'em?

Just ordered a front shock to replace my completely mullered OE one.

So will I be pleased with it, or will I wish I'd paid the extra for the Ohlins?

Bit of a dead thread this one but I thought come back and tie it off.

So the new front Technoflex arrived from DSP Racing ( took three times as long to arrive as they originally quoted, are they part of Touratech ) and I'm very, very impressed with it. It feels plush, supple and 'dynamic' in a way the OEM Showa never did, even when it was fresh. As it was the shock that came off was knackered, and so the way my bike handles has been totally transformed. It's especially noticeable when cranked right over, where feedback and control are really excellent and confidence-inspiring. I took it for a fast run round my favourite circuit in London and even the big bumpy left-hander into the Park Lane didn't unsettle it. I actually think it's made at least of much, if not more of a difference than replacing the rear with Ohlins did, which is surprising as most people seem to reckon changing the front doesn't make much difference Actually, it feels better than the Ohlins, although the Ohlins is well past is recommended service mileage.

So basically - an excellent 'budget' replacement for your front OEM shock - I'd be very surprised if spending extra on Ohlins, Wilburs etc would have offered any further improvement, plus the spring is blue, and matches me paintwork.

I do not have a technoflex, but I considered one for my old TDM for a while and did a fair bit of research. By all accounts they were always said to be as good as Ohlins and certainly cheaper courtesy of a low awareness amongst punters. I would definitely get one, or a Wilbers.

Ohlins, WP, Maxton is best so I'll get it etc. Not so. The general consensus is they are top notch. I think you will be well pleased with their performance, the price and the fact you did not follow the crowd!!

Just got back from a nice long evening run around Kent and West Sussex. Spent the smallest amount of time tweaking it in, and balancing it up with the Ohlins on the back. It's brilliant, better than it's ever been - the bike is sooooo fecking good through corners now - still grinning!

Definately recommended.

You know, it's such a completely great bike the 1150 - 53k and half way round the world and it still as strong and solid as it was the day I picked it up. OK, so new suspension and a few other bits and bobs, but you know what I mean! Even the engine is showing no sign of it's miles and relatively hard life, if anything it's smoother. It even scrubs up like new when I can be bothered. Classic bike IMHO. heart

My 1150GS with front Wilbers (Technoflex) and rear Ohlins glides serenely over bumps which throw my F&R Wilber'ed 1200GS all over the place. Good bike the 1150

DSP racing were a nightmare when I tried to get a Technoflex rebuilt. They quoted a 2-3 day turnaround but took a month, the shock promptly blew it's new seal after 2 days riding, they then took a week to reseal it only for it to go again after a week or so's riding. I gave up in the end and bought a WP. I pulled the Technoflex apart myself only to find they had only swapped the low pressure dirt seal and not the high pressure one on the main piston. Useless ba%tards - I'll never use them again

Nice shocks though Just don't use DSP.

Phew , my experiences with DPS and Andy have been the opposite . Superb service nothing to much trouble !! Have front and rear on my 1200 they even made a very smart bracket for the remote.they have an expert machine shop fitter there.
Really surprised at the bad experiences not mine at all.
As for the suspension absolutely brilliant, the best by far inmo
