The Nokia 5210 really is a bit of a pikey phone - not considered too cool by us Englishmen - but you French probably love it :D

What you want is one of these kiddies - all the range with the rest of the Mendip boys.

Cool or not I can't give a sh1t, it's reasonnably weather proof and used once in a blue moon so who cares because I don't...

This little thread got me thinking . I left Racal in 1986 and had spent the previous year doing production drawings for this.

Cutting edge stuff back then.

1985: Britain gave out its first mobile telephone licences to Racal Vodafone and Cellnet, which simultaneously launched services using Tacs (total access control system)
Telephone of the year was the Nokia Mobira Talkman, thought so fast, light and manoeuvrable that it was advertised by Nigel Mansell.

The Talkman weighed 4.8kg. (about 10 1/2lb) and cost £3,000. Battery life was less than a day between charges. It gave one hour of call time.

put it on the bars - makes the bike lean alarmingly if parked on the side stand, but handy for changing into your waterproofs .
