Good bits, bad bits, what to look for, easy to put a larger fairing on etc?

Know of a 2005 LC4 (not seen it yet), apparently good condition, 5600 miles, just had full service, possible mention of large tank as an extra ... £3000ish. I know nothing about KTM's ... Good price, better off with an Xchallenge?

Casual observations............

Nice suspenders, better than XChallenge

Vibey motors, can be cured by filling inside of bars with silicon

Pretty good, some others will know more:thumb

I had a minter and fitted black plastics, bar risers, removed the emission gubbins etc etc. it was fitted with the Gel comfort seat but you can see the seat's awful for a dirt bike, too low still and forces you to sit in one place so that needed sorting.

Great bike but I had a very sorted 640ADV at the same time and had to keep one, I chose the ADV but either would've done the job. I used the 640 Enduro in southern Spain and it was perfect:thumb...part of me wishes I'd kept that instead, it 'felt' smaller so easier on really tricky sections but no wind protection etc. although that can be sorted with a bit of imagination:)

It's a fairly pointless exercise asking about them on a GS site, not many have owned the 640 enduro, get over to ADVrider and do some searching.

I had a minter 640 which I think you saw. I used it in Spain and a couple of times on Salisbury Plain. It was a great bike with top quality components and better build quality than a new BMW.

The worst bit was the terrible vibes. The dealer told me "they all do that Sir". It was so bad that it gave me a numb arm after too many road miles. I had the "comfort" seat fitted and that was like a plank so the standard seat must be awful.

Great off-roader but personally I wouldn't want to do too many road miles on one.

£3,000 sounds a bit steep to me. I sold mine for £2,650 in mint condition with tons of spares including a set of super moto wheels bought from Tim:)

Ta very much and I will go on Advrider and have a read, I may pop down tomorrow just to see what £3000 gets. However this is from a dealer and I don't really want to end up buying that way when there are so many nice bikes that come up on here privately. Just having a mooch around at the moment seeing what sort of 600cc trail bikes are out there in the 3 - 3.5k range. I do quite fancy giving an xchallenge another go after not really giving the last one a proper chance a few years ago. Don't think I did ever see yours Sid.

I have been doing some research recently, Outomunch rates the Husqvarna 610 TE as duel sport kind of bike so I have been looking for a nice one to pop up,does anyone have knowledge good or bad about these ?

Had a short offroad ride on a 2 year old TE610 recently, was impressed with the lack of vibes and suspension. The only thing to count against is the fact that you can't just bolt on larger tanks & fairings from a similar model as some 640 owners do.

The entry to the airbox is located low on the right panel, I'd be careful when crossing fords etc more than 18" deep.

Your right it was.

Popped down to Exeter to see it this morning and obviously my idea of 'good condition' is slightly different to others. Scuffed plastics, cracked headlight held in by tape, split seat, subframe painted with Hammerite.

I liked the look of the 640 as a bike .... just not this one.
