Tell me about your 1290 .... (Farkles and mods ..)

But surely the bar risers have merely raised the bars ?

Or can you tilt them towards you ?

Yep, they're raised, but I'm more upright now. Lower back still aches after a ride, but it aches after walking down the bloody stairs nowadays.:rob:blast

Perhaps Rox Risers would have been better ?

They tilt as well. Had them on my AT

.............by which time KTM will be doing their normal trick of offering big discounts which is when I will look at changing again ;)

Me too, only thing that I am really envious of is the Cruise Control, with maybe 3 Euro Trips lining up this year it would almost be worth the upgrade cost for the first / last day of each Euro Trip...

...the rest just looks like more to go wrong, increased chance of something going wrong and increased cost when it does go wrong - plus a load of extra weight.

Cruise works really well.

Used it a fair bit last week in Germany/France .

There's a stretch of D road on the way to St Malo near Laval that is dead straight for about 20 miles with numerous villages with a 50kmh limit.

So it was blat up to village, stamp on gears 5-4-3 using quickshifter ,potter through village and then blat back up the box,get back to 80 mph ish ( within 40kmh above 90kmh speed limit so only a fine if pulled) and then nudge "resume" on the cruise control which was preset to 82mph. Very easy.

And the KTM My Ride will also be great on solo trips away, now I've got it fully working.Don't make or take many calls but the option is the reason, and having music tracks displayed on screen is great .

It's a good package.

Giles,
Have you got the KTM My Ride ? ...

Well .... !

Just got back from first service.

Because i was keen to pick up the bike as soon as when i bought it, it had only had a pdi, and we agreed that all the fancy bling (software, sat nav, luggage ..) would be fitted at the 620 mile service.

My dealer has made some sort of a mix up, not sure how, but either way, having paid for luggage, heated grips and a quick shifter, Ive got all that but they've also down loaded My Ride, HHC and gave me a tank bag!!

I pointed out that I didn't order these and in a nutshell Ive got them for a nominal fee of £75!

Had a play with My Ride on the way home and seems pretty good, I am a digital dinosaur though and if the connection drops out I'll probably be at the side of the road for twenty minutes trying to work out how to reconnect it ... !

Luggage is vastly improved over the old bread bins ....

Off to Hilltop on Friday .... :D

Is the current luggage made by Shad and badged as KTM?

In short, I don't know .. spent a couple of minutes on google and can't find anything documented but they certainly look very similar ...

Ive only heard bad reports about the KTM std luggage. I went for the TT option and am well pleased.

I think that mostly relates to the 'old' style luggage, I've heard nothing (good or bad) about the new stuff ~ having said that, I've got the old style 'bread bins' and apart from being fuggly they do the job with no issues AFAIC.

The new style luggage look OK. KTM told me they are available but have not seen any on here yet.

I don't plan on using it on every bike cleaning day, but it's the sort of thing I might get out once a month or so.

Initially You will need to trim the internal side brushes with a sharp pair of scissors to the width of your chain, then connect the hosing to a supplied plastic bottle. Fill it with a cleaner of your choice. I used paraffin.

<a href="https://gileslamb.smugmug.com/1290/i-tLjm48g/A"><img src="https://photos.smugmug.com/1290/i-tLjm48g/1/99ae99e1/L/IMG_1602-L.jpg" alt=""></a>

The biggest faff is actually clipping it on to your chain. There's not much room to play with and takes a few minutes, but the rubber snap shut lock thing is strong and once it's on it's very secure. Note the way it's tethered to the frame by a couple of hooks so that the chain passes through it and it can't move.

and then you're good to go ... (heath robinson video ..)

(Initially I was just turning the wheel by hand, but it seems pretty sturdy and had no problem dealing with the wheel travelling a little quicker).

Results are pretty good and whilst I could probably get as good a finish by hand, it would certainly take me a lot more effort and time ..
