Working through my new Nav V but can't find a way to have the temperature units in deg.C. If I set the units to km then the temp is fine but in miles it defaults to deg F.

Does anyone know how to do this please.

Subtract 30 and divide by two, you'll not be far out. Like converting from KPH to miles and visa-versa, it keeps the brain active.

Doesn't your steed have an outside air temperature indicator?

If all else fails... If it's white, it's cold. If it's hot.... it's hot. If it's rainy... it's... well, you get the picture.

So I guess you don't know?:blast

Nope.

I must confess I've never troubled myself with the temperature display whatsit on what is ostensibly at least a navigational device, though it's rapidly becoming a home entertainment centre for bikers who get bored too easily, with all the problems that brings with it.

The same thing happens on lots of devices, presumably to cater for the less bright US market who cannot adopt to Celsius. My car's navigation will display km / height in meters / temperature in Celsius OR mph / height in feet / temperature in Farenheit. I can't mix'n'match. The idiot light display thingy on the instrument panel remains a resolute Celcius reading, no matter what.

Seriously, if the temperature is displayed on your bike, what purpose does showing it on the Nav V serve? That's not a leading question, not least as I never knew it could even display a temperature.

Outside Temp display on the bike is not available on the XR

Yes it is ! or at least i think it is

It is shown as " In air " on the info switch thing

Yes I found that but after a ride the other day the "I Air" which I believe means "intake air" was showing over 30degC so I assumed that it is measured near to the engine and does not equate to outside air temp.

You could be right !

I didnt even know the NAV 5 had a temp readout and if it does ( i have no reason to doubt you) is it not linked to the bike anyway as part of the data share between bike and Nav ?

Even so it must be in settings and measurment options ?

I ususaly only care about the outside temp in terms of how many layers I need :D

You could be right
Yes it's linked to the bike but converts the bikes temps to degF.
Settings measurement are crap, if you select km you get deg C but if you set miles you get deg F. It just annoys me that for a £600 plus unit you can't fine tune the settings.
However what a bike!!! Never had so much fun with my trousers on! 1st service on 22nd. Yes it has a few minor niggles but you don't have time to think about them, and the quick shifter? Always considered it a gimmic but how wrong I was?:D

I agree on the quick shifter on this bike !

Snicking down 3 gears in Dynamic and hearing that pop and growl is addictive

It's hard to imagine that the GPS device can do anything independent of the bike vis-a-vis measuring air temperature.

If the XR's air temperature indicator on the dash is showing 30c (an unusual temperature for Yorkshire one might think) it's logical to assume that the device will show 30c too, or its Farenheit equivalent of about 90 using the rough rule of thum method.

Anyway, the only temperature that's really critical is at the zero (32) end of the spectrum.... Unless you really do need to know that the swimming pool that was your underpants is at boiling point as the sun scorches down.
