Or not as the case maybe ............. ;)
After being told by my surgeon to sell my GSA :tears, i was looking at middleweight bikes Transalp,Vstrom etc and only wanting to spend a couple of grand as any bike i have now will live outside undercover.
Noticed an F 650 GS Twin for sale last Sunday in the for sale / wanted section, i sent a PM to the seller [with a digit missing] :blast and managed in the end to speak to the seller and only being 50 miles away, i hightail it to Guildford.
Luckily for me the seller could not find his camera lead to post pictures to his add -

So i was ahead of the pack of Vultures that were obviously curlicuing.
I was fully aware that the bike was an ex off-road schools bike but took the view that had there been any serious damage it would of been sorted prior to selling or reared it's ugly head in the two years and 5k miles since it was sold to the vendor.
Pictures bellow show her as i bought her -

Battered and bruised for sure, but an amicable price was agreed :),collected her last Thursday having only sat on it and never ridding one.I was pleasantly surprised by the little bike to say the least,84 miles later ans some spirited riding from Alton to Basinstoke she averaged 73 MPG,never saw that on any of my previous BMW's.
A busy few days stopped me from playing until Sunday when the sun shone, hard to believe but true.

Let the mini makeover begin -
The plastics were in shite order and in need of a repaint, for now i an just going to make good with a full respray over the winter.
So of with the tank panels and out with the P38 -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/191/003clfo.jpg/'><img src='http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/6640/003clfo.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

then primed with Plastic Grey primer -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/004utj.jpg/'><img src='http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/859/004utj.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

After allowing the blue to dry,i applied a clear coat just to give it some shine -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/824/009wglh.jpg/'><img src='http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8396/009wglh.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

And then into my brother spare room for overnight drying [ not b4 i drop one panel face down in the stair carpet FFS ]
A quick blast under the shower cot most fibers off and as it's only for the summer i will let it be.

I had been to an Automotive paint suppliers to get a can of the nearest matched BMW paint £14 mixed for me and after about an hour with the filler, sander and primer topcoat was added -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/818/008ybu.jpg/'><img src='http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/1124/008ybu.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

Today the rain reappeared but me and the little twin have a date at Boxer Beat next weekend and weather permitting,we shall go to the ball :)
So rain or shine i must continue :(

Firstly tidy up the rear end -

b4 -
<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/254/010gyn.jpg/'><img src='http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4853/010gyn.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

after-
<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/404/012mvz.jpg/'><img src='http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9515/012mvz.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

Then fit a crossbar and hard wire my Zumo 550 -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/015pbu.jpg/'><img src='http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/8479/015pbu.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

I had the god fortune to be offered a set of luggage and racks on Sunday night, which i jump at :)
A set of ALPOS panniers and SW Mocheck quick release rack, used once, resold and not reused.
I can still hardly believe my luck,so as the nice man was passing on the M4 we meet and i now have more or less new panniers and racks at a bargain price :)

so on the racks go -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/339/017sh.jpg/'><img src='http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8233/017sh.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

Whats left when the racks are off -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/688/016tlj.jpg/'><img src='http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/9541/016tlj.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

if you look you can just see various metal parts left where the racks and Zeus clips go.

It takes 2 mins to attach the panniers or take them off

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/26/020tae.jpg/'><img src='http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2049/020tae.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

New the whole lot is about £490 from -

After resting my poor arms, it was time to put the panels back on. This job is so simple even a 1200 owner or child could tackle -
And add a front beak to hide the scratched front mudguard, sourced from BMW £30 -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/15/030df.jpg/'><img src='http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/97/030df.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

And the worst side -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/585/033kx.jpg/'><img src='http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/1698/033kx.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

Front end with clear indicators as per the back and it's beak -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/641/027yh.jpg/'><img src='http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/643/027yh.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

The exhaust is badly scratched, but luckily i Won one via eBay for £50.09 incl p & p which should arrive any day.
Center stand due in Wednesday via BMW and new headlight surround as the original is badly scratched.
Plenty more for me to do, so keep looking in :thumb
