Terrible twins, a mini rebuild

This was truly one of the nicest threads to follow..
The bike looks flawless..
Thanks for posting all the rebuild :beerjug:

Thank you :thumb
Left tank / air box fairing is a tad scabby, but my hands don't allow me to make it any better.
But will be sorted when i get the fairings resprayed over winter.
More installments next week when parts are in from BMW........

Shouldn't be many 2009 bikes needing the sort of work this one has ;)
Hopefully she will be reet once fully sorted.
Great fun doing it other than my u/s hands and arms hurting like feck :(

:beerjug:

Wont be many other 2009 bikes at the price you paid for her!!!:blast Even with all the work you have put in, worth every penny.:thumb

Oh, and the weather is looking good for the weekend!

I nearly feel guilty now ;) :D :D

Fair play to you Ash,

I must make it up the Ace for a sunday cuppa to see it, over the water nearly every weekend now so not much time :blagblah

Well we made it to Norfolk and covered 509 miles over the weekend at 67.8 MPG fully loaded with panniers/tent/fold up chair/sleeping bag etc ;)
Cracking wee bike and kept up with the 1150's / 1200's during Saturdays ride out.
Think i will keep her a while............ :thumb

Glad to hear she performed faultlessly all weekend, very pleased for you mate.

I had the god fortune to be offered a set of luggage and racks on Sunday night, which i jump at :)
A set of ALPOS panniers and SW Mocheck quick release rack, used once, resold and not reused.
I can still hardly believe my luck,so as the nice man was passing on the M4 we meet and i now have more or less new panniers and racks at a bargain price :)

so on the racks go -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/339/017sh.jpg/'><img src='http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8233/017sh.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

Whats left when the racks are off -

<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/688/016tlj.jpg/'><img src='http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/9541/016tlj.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

if you look you can just see various metal parts left where the racks and Zeus clips go.

It takes 2 mins to attach the panniers or take them off

Dead easy to fit, although i had to get an adult to get the springs in there holes. ;)

much easier and safer now she is upright :beerjug:

Next was the headlight surround, only £20 so not worth trying to get it repaired.

I see BMW have improved their center stand in comparison to the one of my 2009 model...the abscence of this little peg on the side, makes it unusable without pointy shoes...
again, nice work :thumb

Ash,
Bloody lovely..
Ive just noticed your back box configuration, Is there any chance of a couple of pics of your back box givi plate locations. My back box encroaches onto the rear seat and the pillion has very little room...
You obviously study and think what you want then adapt to suit, a very clever man....If no pics are available then no worry s mate, the thread has been a godsend....
Also you have put the after-market screen on as suggested, what do you think of it?
Many thanks, Tosh
