Went into the local Motorrad dealers on Friday

I did have a look over the new R12 G/S and thought it was better in the flesh and have arranged a test ride for this coming Wednesday

But at £15500 for a base white model in enduro spec, without cruise or heated grips (would have to be retro fitted) - it was hard to get excited and into ‘buy me’ mode

A fully loaded white model would be north of £17-18,000

It may be better to buy a used low mileage R9T Urban and chuck a few grand at suspension mods and other goodies and still be half the price of the new G/S

Go enjoy your test ride JB, but there is a nicely sorted £6750 Turban for sale on here, seeing as you have answered your own dilema.

I know
That’s what got me thinking ….after I have booked a test ride

If it looks like a duck , quacks like a duck , swims like a duck , it probably is a duck .

A Turban is not a R12 G/S

Yes it is, reworked (different pot covers) and tuned down to a fewer ponies, to meet Euro 5+ emissions regs
So the R9T engine is more lively and a better unit?

I have heard a few criticisms on FB from owners who say the R12G/S is a bit limp compared to the R9T’s they traded in and it’s too long geared too, especially in 1st for off-road riding

Dunno not tried one yet

I’d say the R12 has the better engine IMHO

RnineT motor is same one as was found in the last of the air cooled GS/A RT before the LC bike have arrived in 2013. Euro 4 bike having got 110HP, Euro 5 have 109HP and Euro 5+ I believe are now 107HP

Loved it when I test rode it.

Enjoy.

Spent all day riding my R12 on the coastal route from Seaburn on the North East coast up to Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland

I’ve never ridden a R nineT so can’t comment on either it’s power or handling but personally for me the R12 has plenty of power and handles really well

On paper at least they both have 109HP

I’m really pleased with the R12 and glad I made the change
